Hi guys and girls.
Justin Sinclair from Brissy here
I have bought myself the worlds ugliest NA6 with turbo kit to turn into a gravel rally car. I was just going to build it as a general race car with MCA legs and under body protection, thereby allowing use in a multiple of disciplines.
Unfortunately for me Cams / ARCOM has decided to ban the fitting of turbo's on cars that originally were not turbo charged in the club rally car rules. (the old schedule R and this has only just changed).
They have basically come up with club car concept which is good apart from the turbo thing. This means that any normal engine swaps i.e. Datto 1600 with SR20DET, FJ20T are not able to run.
I have been in touch with ARCOM to ask for a general dispensation with the proviso that any car under that dispensation is not eligible for awards. it was a quick submission with the Qld Rally Panels blessing, unfortunately it fell over.
I am going to have another shot using the old model follow on reasoning.
I.e.
NA6 is similar enough to a NA8 which is similar enough to the NB turbo.
I know that there are differences but a NA6 chassis with1.8 brakes and a 1.8 turbo is close enough to a factory turbo to allow the car to run safely all be it without being eligible for points or position.
Will probably be asking for a lexan freedom for the rear window of the hard top based on accessories rather than factory
So if anyone knows of a good Authorative description that I can plagiarise for a submission to cams that would be great.
Failing that anyone want to buy a NA6 turbo so I can buy a NB and then I can go play with Russell.
