Questions about track cars

Postby Moto » Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:53 pm

Hi,

I'm currently building a track car and just had a couple questions:

- I've let the rego lapse and would probably have a hard time getting it re-rego'd since it's been completely stripped out inside, does that mean I have to have it CAMS log booked before I can do sprint events?
- I've got a bolt in rollcage that was sold as CAMS approved, does this need to be inspected before I can hit the track? Would that be part of the log booking?

The car is a AE82, completely stripped out with coilovers and wilwoods and will be getting a 20V 4AGE transplant once I've blown up the current 16V 4AGE.
I've mainly built it as a cheap bit of fun (so far i've only spent about $3500 including the car) for club sprints, hillclimbs, khana's etc. I would have built an MX5 but I couldn't afford to own 2 :(

I'm sure I had more questions but I can't think of them now.

Thanks

For speed events (sprints, khanas, hillclimbs) you won't need rego or a log book. Just compliance with CAMS rulebook, Schedules A and B primarily, and any other section that applies to non-registered cars.

At least that's to the best of my knowledge...

Oh cool thanks for the info. I'll go through the CAMS handbook and make sure it complies.

I just didn't want to sing up for a track day and get knocked back at scrutineering!

You will need to carefully read the Supp Regs for each event. I was reading one today and it specifically required either road registration or CAMS log book. Club events would most likely be more relaxed.
