Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has fitted or has any experience with the 'Spec Miata' seats from the US?

Obviously they are the preferred seat for the SCCA Spec Miata race series over there and from what I have been reading they are incredibly comfortable and really put you in a good driving position. They are popular with the taller drivers and those of a fuller figure that need something to accomodate their under carriage as they are available in lots of different widths.
There is a supplier here in Perth and they are $500 each. My car is going to be a track slag but is not likely to be log booked in the near future.

Re: Ultra shield 'Spec Miata' seats?
Yep, I've had one for the last couple of years. No rails, I mounted mine on some fairly heavy flat bar bolted to the original seat mount locations. I tried a few different seats and the spec miata was the only one that got me far enough back before it hit the brown davis roll bar.
Longest trip I have done in it is Perth to Albany and back, 400+ km each way without a stop can't be too bad for comfort. Getting in and out takes some practice and some might not like the lack of a shoulder wing thingo, but overall I have been very happy.
I will be home next week so if you want to have a sit, let me know. I'd offer you a drive but I am still working on the worlds most drawn out supercharger install!

That's encouraging to hear! I would love to have a look / sit in it when your free.
What width did you go for?
Do you think rails could be used on the drivers seat? My partner drives the car to so it needs some adjustment. I'm guessing it would be possible to just bolt through the bottom of the seat in to the stock rails?!
Looking at the evidence presented (overseas and in the middle of a supercharger install)...I think you are a colleague of my partner?

Bingo.
I think mine is a 16"? Could be 15, I can't remember although I think it was the bigger of the 2 sizes that go gear had.
Bolting directly to the seat to the rails should be OK, the seat is flat bottomed for the back half of the base so that would put it at about stock height, there is sod all padding on the seat base but if you mount it at the correct angle it is very comfortable. Will PM you my number.
