Le Man 24 hour 2010!

Postby deviant » Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:15 am

Hi Guys,

For those that have Foxtel that have got a sports package you might be interested to know that Le Man 24 hour is being shown almost non stop apart from a 2 hour break in the morning for some athletics coverage.

Coverage times are on www.eurosport-australia.com

Every day next week has coverage of the lead up to the race.

Is anybody going to have a crack at watching the whole thing?

If you do not have Eurosport I believe One HD is going to be showing an hour or two here and there.

The 24 hours of Le Mans is my favourite race of the year.

As I dont have Fox, and channel 1 doesnt cover all that much, I try to listen to as much of it as I can from Radio Le Mans. Ive got the last 3 years races (yes, all 24 hours of each one) on my Iphone... (as well as the last two 24 hours of Nurburgring)

I hope this year is like 08... Edge of your seat racing up until the very end.

If I had fox I wouldnt be out of the TV room.

Apparently One Hd is showing 16.5 hours of LIVE coverage this year.

Sat 12th of June: 10.30pm - 2.30am (Then cutting to F1 Qualifying from Canada)
Sun 13th of June: 8am - 10am & 1pm - 11.30pm

That being said, I'm going away that weekend, so I hope to hell the apartment we're staying in has Foxtel!!

So what did we think of the race?

It was turning in to something very exciting in the last few hours until the Peugeout's blew up, at that point the cars just started cruising around until the finish which was good for Audi but did not make for a very interesting race in the last few hours.

It will be interesting to see what Audi come up with next, as I understand it they are moving away from the diesel format next year.

It's a shame they'll get rid of the GT1 Class from the 24hr Le Mans next year. They add a second dimension to the race.

Though I gotta admit, I find the North American Le Mans series more exciting at the moment, in particular the GT1 Class where the RX8s battle against Corvettes, Vipers, Porsche and Saleen et al.

I found it to be a very good race. Although they did focus a bit much on the P1&2 classes a bit much. I enjoyed every hour of 1HD's coverage + 6 more hours of live stream. I fell asleep around 1:15 - 2:45 but all up being up for approx 22.5 hrs was a bit of an effort. Kudos goes to Peugeot for never giving up, The Corvette team for an awesome full rear end rebuild in under 30 mins after a spectacular smash into the armco and Tom Kristenson for getting his team to 3rd after a near miss with BMW's art car forcing him deep into the gravel trap.

I found it fascinating... Having seen Alan Simonsen at EC a couple of weeks ago provided a bit of interest in the GT2 category. Watching him and his team survive and claw their way up to 2nd in class was great! No real coverage of GT1 - a pity but as this class is all but dead in the water, it was understandable. I loved keeping an eye out for Mazda powered LMP2 car - an MZR motor I believe (this is the engine in the NC albeit turbocharged) so there was a tenuous link there. To top it off I am a great Tom Kristenson fan. The Audi campaign was to to keep to their pace and let the others come to them. They only had ultimate reliability in their arsenal and they used it brilliantly!

I don't think that the English driver in the last remaining works Peugeot won any friends in the pits

I also loved the Speed Team calling that French manufacturer Poojoe's   what a hoot!!
