Race seats?

Postby SKYHI » Thu Mar 06, 2008 10:14 am

Hi guys,

I have a Velo race seat from my previous race car that I was looking to put in the MX5. However it's too big so I'm up for a new seat. I notice most guys seem to be running a Sparco Sprint seat and I just wondered whether they are generally mounted on rails in the race cars or solid mounted. Even though the car is currently registered I don't imagine it will remain that way forever, so legality for the road isn't really an issue.

Thanks, Paul.

Solid is best. I have a velo gp90 and mine fits........just had to \"adjust\" one of the wings.

Thanks CT. I have a Velo GPT2 and the wings are the issue with that seat as well. What exactly do you mean by \"adjust\" the wing? I'm imagining something that invloves a stanley knife and some imaginitive upholtery work :D

Paul.

Dremel with a cutting wheel to \"adjust\" the width of the wing and so it fits with the door. No need to adjust to upholstery - the spring loaded thingo will deal with it. No scrutineer has ever noticed what I did and it doesn't affect the integrity of the seat. 8)
