NSW sprint series regs
Just looking at the NSW sprint series regs.
What type of catch are people using for the secondary bonnet catch? Not all that keen on drilling through the bonnet but if it has to be done so be it.
I'm running 15x8's on our NA8 will that put me out of class 2b, or is there a NA with 15x7's from the factory I can quote if need be?

Hey there,
For the secondary device I am simply using chain with latches at either end and hooking into the holes on the underside of the bonnet and near the radiator mount.
Got me through 6 events worth of scrutineering without any problems.

Got an old leather belt?
Using one existing bolt near the catch and an existing hole in the bonnet, and using fairly large washers, cut belt into appropriate lengths and bolt to car
Not the most glam, but cheap and quite functional.
I have seen swaged light guage ss cable, and I have previously used nylon (or whatever) webbing...
Check the regs re wheels, you can go up two inches in diameter and one in width. If that's the case you could also look for a 14 x 7. I don't know of any NA8 models that ran 15x7 or 14x7, but good luck looking.
I hope you can make 2B, looks like quite a few MX5s this year so it should be good fun Also 3B could be tough going for an MX5, especially if that quick Integra turns up again

The Vic club sells these or you could make your own. Screws into radiator support panel, when not in use I have a cable tie looped that it can clip onto and not rattle around.

Did some research and the NA M-series in the US had a 15x7 wheel option so I'm only going up an inch in width on that so should be ok!.
Sorry, the 15x8 rims will not allow you to run in the Type 2 category.
See Vehicle Regulations clause 1.4 “….must have been commercially available to the general public in Australiaâ€

Can someone say if this is correct or not?
When I was talking to Mike Hicks at wakefield on Sunday he said I'd need a fire extinguisher, blue 150mm battery triangle and secondary bonnet restraint. Surprisingly two tow hook stickers weren't required though (just had to actually have 2 tow hooks). I'll probaly still get some stickers made. There's a sticker place in Sutherland that makes CAMS stickers I found on google at work the other day.

I was planning on it. Just today I got an invoice in the mail for $50 though I've no idea what it's really for. Doesnt' even mention if you pay by CC/Cheque/Money order etc. I know I put in Credit Card details on my registration form that I'd already sent....it has \"paid\" stamped on it in light blue in 2 places but it says amount paid is $0.00 on the bottom on the tear off. I might have to call someone tomorrow.
