Once off track day insurance

Do any insurance companies do this or something similar? I think Shannon's let you insure the car for the track as part of your premium, but I'm not with them, so that rules that out.

A number of years ago someone

told me it was around $4.5K. I went no further.
Unless you are an absolute idiot there is only one place at Wakefield where you can get into trouble and that's coming onto the main straight.
In three years of going down there only one car has gone into that wall and that was in the wet and wasn't an MX-5 but a Boxter.
I’ve spun off many times at 130+ at various points around the circuit and my only tip to you is to drive with the roof up. That was you don’t fill the car with dirt, dust & grass.

LOL!! This reminds me of the Mania track day that I went to when Peter Howe had a HUGE spin and came back covered in dust and dirt.

So basically Shannon's with the option for track day use is probably the only choice I have? It's not so much specifically for the upcoming track day, but for any and all future track days.
Don't particularly want to have to foot the bill if I pull a Mr Q at EC...
As for racing with the roof down, I don't plan on it. Too much crazy wind going on and it definitely bogs down SE's by about 10km/h on the main straight at EC, so I'm not gonna bother dropping it.

And the windows up ...

I was spitting mud for a while after that.

Wakefield is pretty safe. Any other track, well ... if you're that worried then you probably shouldn't be doing it. My prang at EC was a PITA but the repairs were a lot less than $4.5K

I'm not mega worried. It's the same diff as driving around on the road. What if some other idiot ploughs into me?
Looks like I'll just have to go without for this run, but I'll have to really figure out a way to get Shannon's to insure me so I can have track insurance.

I'm reading the Shannon's product disclosure statement at the moment and it states:
6. Club Racing
If this benefit is shown in your schedule, we will pay for loss or
damage to your vehicle if at the time of loss or damage you are
driving/riding or using your vehicle:
• in any race, pacemaking, reliability trial, speed or hill climbing
test but only if such an event is an event licensed by the
Confederation of Australian Motor Sport or other body as
approved by us in writing;
• on a racetrack or testing ground or land immediately
adjacent to a racetrack or testing ground if such
driving/riding or use is carried out under licence from the
Confederation of Australian Motor Sport or other body as
approved by us in writing.
Additional Excess
We will apply an additional excess of $500 to all claims under
this endorsement.
The question is how much does it cost to have this benefit. I suppose I should really call Shannon's again and see whether they'll insure me. I'll just have to see whether they'll be willing to let me have the car inside the garage half the time and outside the garage half the time.

Pity I don't have any pics of all the sand I got in the car after this ..

I seem to remember that Shannon's cover you on the track as long as it's considered \"driver training\", but won't cover you if the event is using a CAMs permit.

What I read (and quoted in my above post) seems to indicate that they'll cover it so long as the race has CAMS approval or whatever.
I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say.

I hope this isn't getting too far off topic. But it does relate to regular Shannon's insurance when on a race track for a \"Training Course\"
From Shannons Motor Vehicle Insurance - Product disclosure statement and Policy Wording - Page 30 and 31
What is Covered
13. Training Courses
We will provide you with full cover during your participation in any professional driving/riding course designed to improve your skills on the road whether such course is conducted on public roads or a private specialist venue, provided an instructor is present.
What is NOT Covered
13. Training Courses
Cover will not be provided if such a course is under the jurisdiction of Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) or any other motorsport governing body, or where there are no designated instructors in attendance, except where this is covered by the club Racing optional endorsement (see marcusus post above)

-the agreed value
-$20,000
whichever is lesser.

I interpret that as saying:
If you're doing a training course that has an instructor, you're covered.
If this training course is a CAMS event you aren't covered.
However...
If it is a CAMS event, you will be covered by the Club Racing clause if you've opted to have this clause included on your policy.
It also states that they won't pay your legal liability when club racing which means that if you ding the wall (or any other third party property damage and/or injury for that matter) you are liable to pay that yourself.
Come on Shannon's staff... let's have someone clear this up for us.
