I had padding on mine to get a mod plate and took it off because it impairs rear vision even more. My head is quite a bit lower than the bar though and fairly forward(I'm not that tall). The padding I did have on it was just from a foam and rubber shop and about 20mm thick(QLD DOT says 19mm high density) and alot of cable ties :D

Revolution Racegear at Mitcham have a range of padding, plus advice.

get some NB8B seats. They are quite high......although hitting your head on the roll bar is probably still possible, the danger is reduced a fair bit.

I have a aftermarket bucket for the driver, and it protects my head no worries. When my girlfriend sits in the passenger seat she sometimes hits her head on the bar. :?

She is 6ft tall so that why im interested in getting padding. I would much rather spend a few doller on some padding, then spend god knows how much on an NB seat. Good idea though.

If anyone is interested, I can supply 2m lengths of padding for $20 and zip ties to suit @ $0.45 each. Colours may vary from time to time but normally have Blue, Orange, Red, Yellow, Green and Black.
Factory is in Craigieburn Vic.

NB8B searts will be $800 for a pair upwards. Padding is the proper way to do it.

Have had two goes at this so far, not happy with either  I have used the HD roll bar foam from Revolution Racegear (same stuff Grumpy is offering, and his price is better). My problem is that I hate cable ties and the effect they have on the foam (looks like a bunch of sausages to me). My next attempt will entail a visit to a rubber store ( not the ones on Oxford St  ) to look for some suitable tubing and then enclose this in some form of upholstered vinyl or wetsuit rubber to conform to the curves of the bar properly. Ultimately not quite as effective as the foam, but easier to live with. The roof frame really dents the foam when you put it up too - 20mm is too big on top of the bar.

You should probably cover the middle bit too...
