Time 41.47
Car: Stock 89 model except for 17\" wheels, which overgear the car.

well i will start off first....
1.13 high or 1.14 low @ Calder Park
car: NA6C
mods: mania CAI, full exhaust, Torsen LSD, 1.8 brakes, TEIN SS, whiteline f & r sways, 195/55/15 Dunlop 02G

Winton: 1:45(.36?) long, 1:12.? short

a 1:40 at winton would mean lots and lots of mods/money + driver training.

A turbo MX5 (SP motor in NA shell with Motec) on full slicks/suspension/aero etc does 1.38ish at winton at 1200kg....

Assuming you're referring to Andrew Hardeman's car, it's an NB8A, AVO stage III, torsen, Kings, Konis, semi-slicks, and various other necessary mods (clutch, big radiator, rollbar, harness, etc). Not to mention a driver who has steadily improved over the last few years - I used to be able to beat him in my car ;)
Go along to a club day and meet the members and I'm sure they'll be happy to help and advise you. It's not all about the car, nor about being the fastest.
