Car: Stock 89 model except for 17\" wheels, which overgear the car.

Here's the QLD MX5 Club track board. Only started it the last track day but should give you a fair indication.

You'd be in Modified class, but for a 1600 it's a challenge in that class...

Oh, and for the record, my times:

185/60-14 Yoko Advans or Dunlop D-01Js
Konis and stock springs, or TEIN HA
sway bars
1.8 brakes
open diff.

Calder: 1:14.67
PI: 2:02.65
Winton: 1:45(.36?) long, 1:12.? short
Sandown: 1:35.19

a 1:40 at winton would mean lots and lots of mods/money + driver training.

There's a whole section dedicated to lap times on this site.

Just look in 'Laptimes & Dyno Results' down near the bottom of the index.

Assuming you're referring to Andrew Hardeman's car, it's an NB8A, AVO stage III, torsen, Kings, Konis, semi-slicks, and various other necessary mods (clutch, big radiator, rollbar, harness, etc). Not to mention a driver who has steadily improved over the last few years - I used to be able to beat him in my car ;)

Go along to a club day and meet the members and I'm sure they'll be happy to help and advise you. It's not all about the car, nor about being the fastest.
