Roll bars- CAMS- Tall people

Postby butters » Fri Nov 03, 2006 3:54 pm

I'm starting to get more serious with my mx-5 and feel a roll bar would be in order. i do however compete in the ocasional hill climb, sprint etc.

at the moment i run with the hard top off as i can't sit in the car with a helmet on.

i'd prefer to run with the hard top and use a roll bar. but as i've heard CAMS rules require 50mm gap from top of head to roll bar.

is it possible to do this by using a different seat? or mounting the oem to the floor?

i'd be happy if i could just leave the hard top on and wear a helmet. (being tall is over rated)

Just interested to hear what others run. i supose the real serious people just remove the roof all together so thy run a bigger roll bar?

well bolting my sparco sprint onto stock rails did lower about an inch from OEM seat

Well I’m 186cm and I bolted the sparco sprint seat in which lowered me below the bar. The problem is not the top of the bar but the side of the bar.
I had to lose the soft top so that the bar would extend further to the side but my hard top still fits.
