I'd say the chances of that happening are about the same as my 485rwkw car winning the QR round.

Well in QLD things seem to be reasonable in the race scene.

Cue 1 hour this weekend 37 entries of
which 23 are MX5 in either 2B or 2F.

Not bad 8) 8)

Hey all,

Just thought id add, that in the mra mx5 series a clubman class has been kicked off.

We had the aasa state title earlier in the year and there were approx 16 cars all up.

4 classes turbo, 2b, 2f and clubman

Was a good meeting.

Two weeks earlier the class ran as well at the all british and approx 10 entrants that week didnt race the following week. That means theres probably close to 25 mx5s running on different occasions in the series.

Ass for the door to door rubbing theres only the very occasional rub.

Hey scott.

Yeah thats what we proposed, but their reasoning was they didnt want a non-championship running car to have an impact on the results.

I would have thought the more cars the better. Thats why we built the new car, so we can run. :)

Thinking about this and reviewing results on natsoft,

Last MRA round there was one turbo class entry, if you and I ran our turbo cars in an outlaw class, we would double the current turbo class entries... Not to mention the potential, as there's quite a few fast turbo na's out there..
So lets go!

OK so I just found this thread.

MX5 Challenge was plagued by trophy hunters who were continually complaining that this car wasn't 2F or that car had an illegal mod. As you could imagine, any volunteer is going to get fed up with that. The trophy hunters have left after pretty much destroying the series.

I have been running for about 4 - 5 years the last couple have been lean due to job retrenchment, my daughters wedding and an engine blow up. I don't earn a lot of money so it only goes so far!

Next year there are big plans! 4 MRA rounds, 4 FoSC rounds, the ARDC Sports car festival and 2 enduros!!

I built a 2F car but didn't have the budget and couldn't stand the politics. Next year the car will run as 2B which means I can put slicks and aero stuff on. It might not be any faster but I will be having fun and the races I plan to run in don't seem to worry. It will be built to the Prod Sports Class C regs, but even then, I won't be able to get down to the weight limit (unless I consider some amputation but what fun would that be? )

If you want to come racing, come along, I have only dented my car a couple of times, both fairly small issues. Sure I get in amongst it but I pay for my panel repairs and don't want to have to pay too often!!

As evil said, the main core of the drivers are all great people, the racing is 'gentlemanly' to a point and it really is the cheapest form of racing I can find!

Scotty,

Why cant you run the mx5 races?

If cams host another mx5 race at ec youll be allowed to run in that. :)

U just cant run in prod sports :/

In the Aasa events any mx5 can run!!

I personally couldnt care less about winning trophies, i like close racing with people who respect each other on and off track. Thats what will keep me coming back :)

Col,
I saw your picks on FB - nice aero!

didnt realise you were going 2B.

Ive prob said it before, but Im always running in the bottom half of the group, doesnt worry me.
Im on a tight budget and its fun for me!

Scotty, I still dont see why you cannot race with us!
Looking for an SVT motor for this:

Chris, the car has non 2F parts on it so I figure just embrace it. I don't know that it will be much faster, but it will sure be fun on slicks with ITBs and aero! Might have to do you a deal on it towards the end of next year 8) 8)

Sorry I asked if the AASA races had the same rules as prodsports, to which I got a response that Matt wasn't allowed to run and was building a new car to suit....
Bit of confusion on my part... Rip, sh!t or bust, I'm racing my car in whatever category they put me in.
So lets go!
