Casey, sorry to correct you but Russell only got a low 1.09 to confirm my handling issue, since then I found out that I had 3 bent conrods!

I must have misheard him as he was shovelling down his hamburger 8)

I'm about to pass my short-shifter to Turbo Boy for the greater good - that will get him another 2 seconds

just quickly, what are the prices on an import NC in good condition??
also how much harder/easier are they to get around in terms of removing the factory saftey devices (airbags, pretensioners ect) would you bother with the stability control (I understand alot leave ABS on their race cars)?
is there noticibly more room vertically (for cage/head clearance)?
are their any cooling issues (I hear NA and NB racers complaining often)?
how good is the mazda LSD for the NC, are their any alternatives yet?
how different is the actual seating position?
is it easy to get steering wheel boss's for the NC?

Ours start at around $20,000 landed.
SRS airbags and seatbelts are the same to remove as NB's - easy. The Jap RS spec ones also have side bags which come out with the seats. Would I remove them..... without a doubt. A hand hitting your face when the SRS goes off in a road car makes a mess. The same hand hitting a helmet or roll cage ..... ugly.
Jap softop ones dont have stability.
You sit quite low in the NC - even the road cars so the head height issue is not a problem. I'm 6 foot and have a comfortable margin.
NC's the 1st one I've dríven that didnt overheat. We've not had any issues at all yet but havent had a super hot day in full race conditions when you are right behind someone restricting your airflow. Due to the shape of the nosecone and the angle of the radiator the full core is exposed on the NC and Im sure this helps.
Diffs so far have been very good. Temps are very high (over 150 at Bathurst but we run the same oil as the Factory cars (courtsey of Allan Horsley). We are currently having some diff centres built and this should bring the temps down.
Seating pisition is the same just lower.
Steering wheel boss is the same as NA/NB.

Chris.

thanks for all the info 8)

Results from any particular day can be skewed to favour any particular model. I have lapped 1:21's around GP on A048's and Matilda's NA (complete with non-turbo 1.8) was running quicker than that, so shall we conclude that NA's are the best ! My SP has a $2 hose for engine mods (although without the LSD, I could not come close to these times), has a full interior, A/C and doof doof stereo, plus it runs me at the wheel which is at least a 3 sec handicap.

Like Gary points out, the SP is built on essentially a 10 y.o. platform now, I would hope they can improve it, if they release an MPS NC (assuming it will be in the 190kW range) I will be eternally jealous of all owners.

Indeed - We SP owners will be very envious or there may be a few SPs being upgraded (I only hope they give the NC a nose job at the same time - like the visual improvement between the NB8A to NB8B).
