MX5 SE in Turbo class for motorsport

As guran said, an NA will be the best fun/cost ratio and accepts every and all parts that any NA/NB chassis car came with as upgrades later on.

Potentially - although the primary reason is a good deal has come across my lap, and I can pick up an SE about $13k, Given the upgrades (Brakes, Tyres, LSD), it's hard to pass up considering a regular NB of that era is only slightly cheaper. (Based on carsales.com.au for Brisbane. Some better deals if I travel).

Perhaps I'm better waiting for a cheaper Aspirated model to come into the market, especially if it's going to save me a fair chunk of cash in running costs (And be better for a beginner).

Lol, I will have to disagree with Dan's comments, since I have had my SE for 4.5 years, and have definetly not added 50% more power.

Anyway, the reason I picked the SE when buying was so I didn't have to change all the parts I would have if I bought a regular MX-5. Also thought about a SP back then, but it didn't add up with all the things that needed to be modifed to match the rest of the car to the power it has.
I'm still running all the standard Mechanicals, inluding Suspension and am happy with it on the track. Tracktime buys laptime.

Seriously go have a look at the car, if you like it buy it.

Not really, QR sports and sedans is a option, but you will be on track with some very quick cars. I.E. space frame v8, evos.
Racing a mx5 in prod sports is pointless I.M.O.
I've sold my mx5 for this reason. I now own a boat that goes whoosh.
I would have loved to race my mx5, I didn't want to run at the front, but I would of liked to have run at the back with a couple of people and not get lapped. Just to keep up I needed a 10k motor that would have lasted 30 hours, pointless I.M.O.
But that is motorsport. :mrgreen:

Ok too bad. I would love to come up north sometime and run around with mx5s. Maybe one of the club days.

You certainly get a good mx5 turnout to the QR rounds. Only time I have seen 15 or more down here in the last year was for the MSC weekend.

I meant the prod sports rounds actually but your club rounds are equally healthy

I am just putting ads into the site for a normally aspirated NA race car and a Tarmac rally prepared SE . Either one will scare the pants off you , but hey , why start with something that needs heaps of works to get to the front . This way you get years of development at a fraction of the development cost .

+1 for buying one of Kerry's cars to be at the front of the field for not a lot of money to go fast
