Going 2 be interesting with this Exige in 2B!

Bloody Exige, too quick for everyone. I think it was about 10 fastest on the day out of 105 cars.

What happened Davee with you off?

As for the day. What a shambles.
The organisers were a little upset that the Oran Park management hadn't prepared the track after overnight rain. It took to 11:00 before the day started. Then with 105 cars running, it was an hour and a half between runs.
It was very interesting, this was my first supersprint and the variety of cars their amazed me. From a Lotus Two Eleven all the way down to a 20 year old Barina on road tyres.
There was a lot of very serious money being thrown at the cars and some very intense 10/10ths driving.
Well done to all our Club members. Bad luck for Pat (Turbo Girl) having the SP getting stuck in third and having to retire. I think I came in last in the group. It took me a while to get the hang of the track. I found that there was too many corners that were between gears and I just couldn’t get a good flow happening. It wasn’t until the last race where I had Commodores hounding me through corners that I realised that maybe my tyres had seen better days. Normally I would have been able to run rings around them.
I got home late yesterday, got out the high pressure water cleaner and blasted off the mud and dirt from a little off in the esses but was too tired to change my wheels over.
At least it looks clean now and the rear view mirror isn’t full of crap.

Sound like an interesting day.........

Looks like the Lotus's (or is that Loti?) were excluded....... Should be an interesting story. Cant remember the last time someone was excluded from a supersprint??

Good to meet everyone yesterday!

Appears the Lotus's may have swapped drivers for session so have been excluded.

Yes, they did. Some comfort for the rest of us in 2B. Not.

Well done Andrew, first of the 2B MX5s (I presume, class not listed in results), David taking 2B in the Integra - treasure those 10 points David, Rex has a mortgage on the other eight of them  . Also well done Stewart, with the 1B win.
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

NB SE - gone to the dark side (and loving it 8) )

was a great day...

yer about that off :P well it was the lap after my warm up and i guess the tyres where not as warm as i was expecting, clipped some dirt on the apex lost it, got it then lost it and jumped on the brakes. then as they where towing me my intrusion bar which my tow hook is attached to snapped.. :( haha

after that it was all downhill and was only driving at 8/10th as i was a bit shaken up by the off (nearly flipped when i went off!) and my alignment completely screwed :(

does any1 know the story behind rex in the exige ? if u don't want to post u can pm me...

thanks

Not the best day for me , really dissapointed with my times :( . Got to get out of White Group, held up everywhere and never really got going. First run, stuck behind a beginner at every corner who had longer legs in the straight :? . 2nd & 3rd run held up by a Barina that needed a whole lap to warm up his KMart tyres, at the green flag 10 cars abreast at the start line trying to get round him, real dangerous stuff  , next run, was blinded by a V8 Commodore blowing thick smoke and I think dropping oil :x , last run following a Supra spraying coolant :x , really interesting at the SS's, you gotta love those concrete walls  .

After the second run Doreen lost power in the tower. My dismal posted time was my second run time. Anybody know if power was restored and times were collected for the remainder of the runs  ?

Any way hopefully some new suspension and some brave pills will see me placed in a better group  .

Ian moore a great friend of mine took about 365 photos on the day. Here are the MX5 Club member cars that he had.

Hi Bob et al,

Full results available from Natsoft:

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/resul ... .ORAN.SS.I

I had a great day. No problems with the car whatsoever, I didn't spin it once. Must mean that I need to try harder. New PB for me 1:27:73, but as my wife pointed out, I will never know if that was due to improved driving or due to the improved power from the exhaust mods.

I had a fantastic time chasing a Civic around the entire track, all over him every corner, but as soon as we hit the straight, I couldn't gain an inch on him. Drove like that for 2 laps.

Good to catch up with everyone!

Car, trackday and driving wise I had a pretty awful day. Still was nice seeing a lot of people, checking out some of the weird and wonderful beasts of supersprints...

I think track-time wise that is by far the worst trackday I've ever had, I think I used less than a 3rd of a tank petrol. I actually drove from the petrol station home, to wollongong, to oran park, to north Ryde to drop something off and then drove back down to wollongong..without refilling including a trackday. That is totally abyssmal. I usually use 1.5 tanks of petrol at wakefield on an mx5 trackday

My car felt like I've lost grip somewhere....I was understeering a lot..then oversteering a lot easily too. Felt similar to Winton but atleast there I could touch a little something off the edge of the track and not end up slippery for the next two corners. Plus the ripples are mostly pretty dam brutal at Oran park and really upset the car if you push it too far. I went too fast on warmup laps and then sat behind people..then instead of watching lines I just kept trying to overtake. I think I got a really perfect run around the bridge being able to flat-stick it in 4th, then I did the corner exit to the corner just before the bridge perfect...got into 4th before even hitting the incline on the hill and ended up constantly sideways. Pretty much story of the day. I think I span off completely only once...but had an awful lot of sideways time where I just can control it a lot more. I'm nowhere near as practiced as Andrew but I'm getting there  I also started putting it back to 5th instead of 3rd on the turn 2 brake point and compression locked it about 5 times. Really frustrated with myself.

I'm getting more backfiring off throttle, occasional misfires and am putting out black smoke and using a lot of petrol. The new alignment settings work much better on the street but 1.6 front and 2.0 rear camber just feel awful on the track. Feels like I've lost a lot of turn-in. I think I'll be going back to a more aggressive alignment and getting a tune before wakefield. Car felt fantastic on that day...I need to find that again.
