Yeah, nothing google maps and a GPS won't help me through
I've got a couple of questions but I'll give either the event secretary or clerk of course (whatever that is) a call tomorrow evening to ask them. Who would be better to call?
I can always decide how I want to get down there later on down the track ie whether or not I feel like just doing a weekend mission down there and galavanting around beforehand, rather than doing a massive one day mission.

Thanks for the info. This passage intrigues me the most, because in the end it's the biggest factor for me.
I live on the North Western side of Sydney aka the Hills district, so for me to head to Wakefield means I need to add perhaps another hour or so on top of that 2ish hours you have there.
What time will the day start and finish? I suppose if it's something like a 9am start and a 4pm finish it might not be too bad, but I'll still be knackered afterwards.
Either way, I'm getting quite keen for this now. Just wanna get my facts traight before I say yes/no.
Marcusus, on the few occasions that I have been to Wakefield for a track day I have found that it generally takes me about 2 hours to get from my place at Kellyville to the track, so I usually leave home at 5:30 to be there for a 7:30 start. Like Hellmun said, it is really easy to get there too, just jump on the M7 (or M2 if that is closer for you) and head for Canberra. Once you are on the M7, it runs straight onto the Hume hwy and you just follow that until you get to the first Goulburn exit. (top gear, 100 - 110km/h the whole way and you don't have to stop anywhere) Turn left at the first set of lights you hit and follow that until there is a left turn that goes over a railway bridge (there is a sign to Wakefield at that turn) and about 5 mins later you are at the track.

You can buy a Wakefield Park licence on the day if that's the only place you'll be racing at.

I think they are about $40 from memory. EDIT - that is for a year.

The entry form says the Wakefield pass is $50. Didn't mention if it was just for the day or for the entire year though. However, the CAMS licence is $88, which will probably work out to be better value anyway to be able to go to other things etc.
Anyway, entry form will be faxed tomorrow. Still waiting on info about the CAMS licence though...

The Hunter Chapter is getting keener - we have four 1st timers having a run.
I will be sharing my car with it previous owner - if he cant get his newly aquired NA back together by Sat so he can drive that.
A reminder about the run down to Goulburn Saturday arvo and some Dinner & Lies at the Astor Pub on Sat Nite see \"Events\" post.

Yeah I'm a member. Mike Hicks gave me a ring today about it after I left him a voicemail last night. He says he's gonna chase that up with Zan for me, so that's good.
Now to decide what to do about getting down there. If there's some of you going down on Saturday for a sneaky beer, I might join you. It'll certainly beat waking up at bloody 5am on the Sunday.

I'll be leaving Newcastle on Saturday with the car on the back of a trailer probably about 1PM, I think.
Staying at Mike's Manor, whose large booking evapourated, and thus he has many rooms available again.

Great day, interesting track and very impressive cars. Unfortunately, mine was not one of the latter.
Another fabulously well run event, so much thanks to all the officials, flag point officials, timing officials, grid officials, scrutineers.
Looking forward to the next track day already when I should have:
Rear brakes and rotors that work;
Semi slicks that don't run down to canvas after the second session; and
A full exhaust system.
Some very impressive performances on Sunday though, with Andrew and Mark going hammer and tong for top honours in Class 4.
Nice to see the MX5Racing Red Coupe and to hear the Austin Martin Vantage!

i was a little dissapointed with the austin, not as much noise as i was hoping for.... i think he may of been a little shy understandably... i mean i can understand not wanting to stone chip or rough up such a pricey car.. but the dusting off the seats with a brush was a tad.. yeah.....
bummer about the tyres matt... but they had to go sooner or latter... what are you going to get this time?
track was damn good.. just wish i knew what i was doing with my suspension.. couldnt stop oversteer all day
must say thanks to mike and the crew for running another good one.
