How does one go about getting a logbook? I'm assuming there's a cam's form and you have to get scrutineed at an event?

CAMS LOG BOOK –

http://www.cams.com.au/Content.asp?PageID=Vehicles

Same deal with the race license, what pre-reqs if any and what would the process be?

CAMS PC LICENCE –

http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?Page ... jectID=301

Does the FoSC event include a \"motor sport lecture\"?

LECTURE CAN BE DONE ONLINE – FOSC GUYS GIVE YOU A TALK TO TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THEIR WAY OF DOING THINGS

How many layered suits would be required? MUST BE FIA COMPLIANT SUIT AND RACE BOOTS. ALSO FIA SOCKS – don’t ask it’s a looooooong story. :?

Does a Brown-Davis bar constitute roll-over protection? ONLY IF IT IS CAMS APPROVED AND INSTALLED CORRECTLY – CHECK WITH BD Does it make any difference that I have a hard-top? NO

ROLL BAR CERTIFICATION –

http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?Page ... ObjectID=3

By switch do you just mean a kill-switch for the battery? YES AN ISOLATOR SWITCH THAT CUTS POWER TO THE CAR. MUST ALSO BE ACTIVATED BY CABLE TO THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR.

Does it have to be an X-point harness? MUST BE FIA COMPLIANT WITH EXPIRY DATE. WOULD RECOMMEND MINIMUM OF 5 POINT

What constitutes a race seat? MUST BE ADR APPROVED WITH A FIXED BACK.

What tow-hooks are required ONE AT THE FRONT AND ONE AT THE REAR. WE USE STRAPS THROUGH THE FACTORY METAL HOOKS. THIS SEEMS TO SATISFY THE MORE ANAL  , ER THOROUGH SCRUTINEERS and where does one get the stickers? STICKER PACK FROM REVOLUTION RACEGEAR.

AS CT MENTIONED EARLIER – CONTACT PLACES SUCH AS REVOLUTION AND TELL THEM YOU WANT TO GET STARTED. THEY HAVE KITS/PACKS AVAILABLE TO SUIT MOST BUDGETS THAT HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED

Hellmun wrote:How does one go about getting a logbook? I'm assuming there's a cam's form and you have to get scrutineed at an event? FILL IN FORM AND GET CAMS INSPECTION
Same deal with the race license, what pre-reqs if any and what would the process be? ALREADY MENTIONED ABOVE

How many layered suits would be required? 1+ FLAMEPROOF UNDERWEAR OR 2

Does a Brown-Davis bar constitute roll-over protection? Does it make any difference that I have a hard-top? THEY CAN MAKE A BD LEGAL -MUST HAVE A FRONT DIAGONAL STAY - BOLT IN IS OK. ROOF MAKES NO DIFFERENCE

By switch do you just mean a kill-switch for the battery? AND MUST KILL IGNITION TOO AND HAVE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL MECHANISM

Does it have to be an X-point harness? ???- 4 POINT MIN FIA APPROVED

What constitutes a race seat? FIA APPROVED GENERALLY - FIXED BACK WITH PROVISION FOR HARNESSES

What tow-hooks are required and where does one get the stickers?

I know a lot of questions but I joined the club to race....I thought I should wait a bit longer (I've not missed a trackday since I joined) but if numbers are important...I'll do what I can to fill the back-field:P

For reference my car is a road-registered NB8B with just headers, exhaust, CAI, ECU and Monoflexes. Next track-day will be the first time I've had suspension and semi-slicks(hopefully LSD too). I was planning on developing the car for a year( I picked it up new years eve), bring my times down and starting in the next super-sprint season. Skipping the brown-davis bar and just getting a roll-cage.

If this is a better path to get into it...I'll do what I can to take it.

Get it inspected by a CAMS official, take 2 photos and pay your money.

Same deal with the race license, what pre-reqs if any and what would the process be?

Medical + online test + pay money

How many layered suits would be required?

Double

Does a Brown-Davis bar constitute roll-over protection? Does it make any difference that I have a hard-top?

BD will be fine, but I'd want side intrusion bars. Also top of your helmet must be 50cm below top of bar. If under 6 foot and in a Sparco Sprint, you'll be fine. Hardtop is fine.

By switch do you just mean a kill-switch for the battery?

Yes

Does it have to be an X-point harness?

No, for road registered a 2" 4 point is fine.

What constitutes a race seat?

Sparco Sprint = cheap and excellent....$400

What tow-hooks are required and where does one get the stickers?

Bigger ones. Revolution for stickers

At this stage I will be doing both races and I'm sure you will have about another 3-5 QLD's coming down for a run at both. We have a QLD meeting tonight so I hope fully will be able to give a better indication of number then. Neil

Another thing guys - don't get hung up on having \"name\" brand racing gear. To start out, highly consider seats and harnesses from companies like http://www.autotecnica.com.au as well.

I use the monza 6pt harness and it's about 1/3 the price of a sparco or willans. They all have to pass the same tests to be FIA approved so you are smart to consider alternatives such as these that save you money.

I have never seen any scrutineer check the head clearance at an open race meeting...if you are worried just run with a hard top and you won't have a problem.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

To be honest, I've never had it checked. Supposed to be done at logbook, but wasn't. I have the seat bolted to 10mm think alloy and then straight to the fllor. Others have got them lower by using a seat that the padding can be removed from too. Photos can bee seen here. As you can see in the bottom photos, my dad is too tall for it...he's 6'3" (grey helmet) http://www.performanceforums.com/forums ... t=67217537

It may be too obvious to mention, , but the BD needs to be steel, alloy not acceptable.

This is too good to let pass by, consider the GM an entry.

If you do get pinged for it a simple 'U' bend about 6" long can be welded to the top of BD bar to get you through, but you won't be able to run the bar with your roof any more, and you will need it done by Bond Roll Bars or one of the 'certified' bar builders, and of course it will stuff the powder coat up.

Yeah....6'4\" checking in .....

So looks like about $2500+(BD bar, seats, harness, 2 layer suit, license, logbook) for me in 2 months. Plus I have rego next month and need road tyres for both cars....

See how I go after semi-slicks and Diff's in. I guess I only need 2 road tyres for the Camira to pass rego....I might be able to just do it.

Hi all,

Neil - great news
Cal - you have to be here one way or another ........ sick day maybe?? 8)

As Lou said re the head height, we have had more problems with scrutineers (one in particular) at Supersprints than we ever had at Races.

Keep in mind at the FOSC you dont need a window net as it is classed as an open car whereas the Prod Sports guys class it as closed when it runs a hardtop............

Looks like its all starting to come together!!!
