At the cost of running at arguably the most boring track in the country instead of the fastest and more technical one. Sure, the risk is not for everyone. I would never go back to Lakeside in a daily driver, or without a roll bar/harness/seat/hans and actually push hard. QR was fun the first time there. Then I went to Lakeside, and within one 5 lap session I realised how poorly QR compares when it comes to driving enjoyment for me.

Master plan for Lakeside: Gravel trap on the outside of the kink, and move the armco back 10m and put in a gravel trap at the entrance to the straight. The most problematic areas are hugely minimised, and you still get all the fun you had before :)

It is a personal choice, the level of risk you are prepared to accept, and it has nothing to do with skill level or how big your dangly bits are. Nobody should be pushed to take risks above what they are comfortable with, or made to feel bad for the choice they make.

Can't/won't happen, not enough land and too expensive for the room you need for the speeds achieved.

Plus there are other factors like the politics of having Lakeside open. No further development will happen with the current ownership issues and the factions behind it, including a lot of people looking for any excuse to shut it down.

I know it'll never happen. Would be too much outlay to get the track up to national/international standards to get any real events there, plus it's too small and pine rivers shire council is retarded. It will never be what it was again, which is a shame.

Can't happen because Lakeside has been preserved as a historic site and can't be altered although Queensland Raceways was allowed to resurface it. We are lucky to still have it - after the Ipswich track was built I always thought it would end up as a development site.

It was given a historic listing to prevent it from being turned into a development, then it took a couple of years fighting to get it taken back off the register so it could be repaired and reopened. It's not a historic site on the register anymore.
