I usually have a 10 litres plastic 'can' I take with me. I always fill it outside of the car and tie it down in the boot so it can not move easily. Makes me nervous still.

Using a proper nozzle that screws on to your jerry can makes it safer to as they have a bit that lets air out with the fuel glugging and spilling everywhere.

Remember it is the vapour on fuel that burns and not the liquid itself. The vapour spreads a long way and fast and can leave you and your mates and the cars either side of you in the paddock sitting in a fuel air bomb without you knowing it. Well worth taking note of what is going on around you before sloshing fuel about the place.

The Cams document makes sense. I used to fly light aircraft and was taught to always connect an earthing strap between the tanks and nozzle before opening them for refueling

Very old advice. I like the bit where it says you should wear clothes. Anyone not wear clothes at the petrol station? :lol:

....and ground the tanker and ground the aircraft and make sure the nozzle is touching the tank just to be sure.
