Cheap helmets at Aldi this week
I got mine today. It's amazingly well constructed for $69. For a first timer I think it is a great buy. Anyway if I crash my car I deserve to be belted in the head.

Does the visor have an Australian Standard sticker on it?

Re: Cheap helmets at Aldi this week
I have also picked one up - couldn't not for the price, even if just for a spare.
They are labelled as autoXS which is an Aldi brand name, but a web search shows they are a chinese (of course) based manufacturer - Foshan Nanhai Jiujiang Jiadeshi Helmet Co. Ltd who claim to be a high volume helmet manufacturer established in 1994 and who meet appropriate standards. I expect that most of the generic helmets come out of one of these factories.
It is hard to check the construction quality, but they don't look much different to the $150-250 motorcycle or low level Revolution helmets that many of the super-sprinters and hillclimbers use.
Seem adequate for low level motorsport where a hans device is not used - better than borrowing a mates that doesn't fit or renting a cheapie.

*shudder*
Akin to bowling shoes and those 'loaner' socks they have in shoe shops.
