If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

No inclusion but 2f cars , and if you claim the monies as a 100% legal 2f[ and if it is your blue NA you just might]
Then, and only then, between you me and the brick wall[ and every one who reads this]
The money will be placed on the bar at the Yamoto Tavern your $200.00 and I will bring $200 so as not to dilute your winnings. Neither of us leaves till the funds have been converted into alchol and further strained through our kidney's. [ no other will be shouted a drink from the fund pool, it will be one on one]
I will supply the designated driver.
Missed this. You're on.

I asked Mike Hicks about this and he checked with the eligibility officer in the NSW Supersprints. He told me that CF hardtops would be legal at NSW Supersprints in Type 1, 2, 3 (Group 2F), 4 (Group 2B) or SV provided they are structurally sound (lightyear's brackets look perfectly adequate to me) and there are no safety issues (Kevlar layer would alleviate any splintering concerns).

Mike has also indicated that a CF hardtop is acceptable in the stock classes with the MX-5 Club NSW provided that the original soft-top is still fitted to the car. Right, time to start saving to buy myself one!

This is the extract from the Prod Sports 2F & 2B regs that is causing confusion:
3.3 Cockpit covering, open vehicles: It is permitted for the cockpit opening of open vehicles to be partially covered by a tonneau cover, able to be removed without the aid of tools. Where a manufacturer provides a hard top as a factory option, this may be installed in compliance with the manufacturer’s instructions; a vehicle so equipped remains considered as an open vehicle.

So, you have the choices:
a) tonneau (soft) cover, removable without tools
b) factory option hard top
or
c) GTFO

Yes but we are also in the process of applying to CAMS to amend some of the rules. This could be one of them.

As far as i can tell by the rules if you can use a "factory" hardtop you can use a replica. There is no part number on the hardtop and no mazda stamp. Therefore it is not a manufacturer option, rather a dealer option. I will go down to mazda and chase up some info later this week. It's like when you get a leather interior in some new cars, the dealer simply gets it done down at blackmans. Not by the manufacturer of the car. I bought a new ute a few years ago and thought i was paying for a factory ute lid, turns out it was just a flexiglass challenge lid with the badge removed.

Any info from Mazda would certainly help my case. It would also sell more hardtops.
