15's don't fit over the NB8B bigger standard brakes. Well not without leaving enough room for adequate cooling. The NB8A's are allowed 16s cause the 8B's has them. Because we upped the size of the NB8A by one size, the same was done for the NA's. This was also because there's very little available in 14 inch tyres these days. There is a really good range of high performance road tyres in 15's.
I'm not for exceptions for newer drivers over advanced drivers as it creates all kinds of issues. Who decides they are no longer new drivers and when that happens are they then required to change wheels back to fit inside the rules? I think one set of rules for all is paramount. With regard to exceptions, it's a path I'd prefer to steer away from. If we allow someone bigger wheels, we must do that for all and then what would be the point of having rules at all. Members have the oportunity to make alteration to the rules annually prior to or at the motorsport meeting. We can and have addressed things where required but I'd prefer that people raced within the guidelines.
These standard or relatively standard classes attract those who wish to go racing without changing components (spending shiploads) and still be relatively competitive. Those who want to spend/modify have 3 higher classes to choose from.

The rules are exactly what I was after. I checked the site again and can't believe I missed them. My car has 16's , extractors and am told a cat back and high flow cat so it looks like I will fit into Clubman.
I need shocks and springs and was going to get sway bars at the same time. After reading the regs it looks like I will be holding off on the sway bars for a while.
Just be aware that 16s on an NA will be considered 1 mod. I was discussing this with someone last week. 15's on the NA's and 16's on the NB's is considered standard. I would suggest that anything bigger will be a disadvantage if anything but none the less, thats the rules. There is a limit of 4 mods for an NA6 in clubman class. Wheels, catback and extractors will be 3 mods. Shocks will keep you under the limit but the springs will bump you over into modified.
Sam
With regards to the wheel sizes.
In Clubman class, as I see it, you are competing against NB's. It doesn't then make sense to me that they are allowed 16's but NA's are only allowed 15's. I checked the rules and as far as wheel sizes, in clubman class, it only mentions width (7") and tyre size of 205 and not diameter. Can anyone alaborate on this?
Cheers

In Clubman, you are allowed any diameter. Width is the only limitation, it keeps people from having to buy 8-9\" wide rims to be competitive.
Diameter is only controlled in Standard Classes, as a way of allowing a completely unmodified car to remain competitive.
Of course, there's no mention of offset...

Yeah. Thanks for that Matty. I missed that bit. As it doesn't specify diameter, I figured it should be along the lines of standard classes but given that it doesn't specify, and there aren't too many 14 x 7's I guess diameter won't be an issue in clubman.
So to recapp for emexv,
There is a limit of 4 mods for an NA6 in clubman class. As long as the 16's are no bigger than 7inch wide and the tyres are no biger than 205, they won't count as a mod. So catback and extractors will be 2 mods. Shocks and springs will be 4 and keep you under the limit.

The team are going to have to chat about diameter size in clubman and add something a bit more concrete to the rules prior to the new season as presently it's not black and white. It'll either state that diameter is free or specify a size. Open for discussion on Sunday if you all like and finalized in the next 2 weeks.
I'd like to implement a maximum of 16's for clubman as it fits all NB and NA standard classes also. Of course this is up for debate at this point.

I don't see a point specifying a limit as there's no real practical benefit once you get to ~16\" anyway. They just get heavier. Width (and tyre width) is where the real benefits are, so that's the one that's limited.
Also, it's not fair on someone to turn up with a basically standard car that came with 17s on it, and instantly be forced to run in Modified class...
Clarify by stating that diameter is not limited if you want, but that's all you need to do (if anything) IMHO. I thought it was clear enough, but then I'm too familiar with the wording...
