Crown wheel & pinion for my racecar

Postby Red 2f MX5 » Fri May 09, 2008 9:53 am

Has anybody got a 4.3 crown wheel and pinion they want to get rid of.

My race car (NA) has a 4.1 in it and i think a 4.3 would be a better ratio for most of the tracks we drive on. The 4.1 just bogs down a little bit in certain tracks in certain spots.
Took the car out to Oran Park GP on Wednesday for some testing and wasn't even using 5th gear at the end of the straight. About 7800rpm in 4th. It was sort of stuck between gears on a few corners. Did make some good gains with the suspension but. Got down to a 1.21. I think a 4.3 ratio will get it into the 1.20's.

cheers
Brett

you would be better off posting a topic in the \"used car (or parts)\" section.

more people will see it there.

also there is actually already one for sale in that forum. *edit i just read it again and he doesn't want to seperate it so you'd have to buy the whole assembly .

try looking around here a bit rather than just sticking in this motorsport sub forum. there is plenty of good info scattered all over the place here.

4.44 is commonly available (Econovan) - should be adequate.

I was thinking about a 4.4
Might just buy a 4.3 new from Mazda. Not cheap. About $750 i think.

I also have two sets of f***kd 4.3's in my shed, but of no use.
