Gday

Just wanted to introduce myself

I am new to this forum and new to racing an MX-5

My name is Brett, I am from Sydney. 33 years old.

I have been racing in Group S historics in an MGB for the last 5 years but decided i needed a change. So i have built up a 2F MX-5. I have built it to do the FOSC meetings the 1 hour enduro's and maybe a trip or 2 up to QLD where you guys have your own series.
I have done 2 meetings in the car now but am still trying to get a few things sorted. And there are still a few things to be added to the car later in the year. eg - bigger brakes, pedal box, a bit more weight to be taken out.
First meeting i did in the car was Bathurst. Car was rushed to get there and not ready but still went ok first time out. Got down to a 2.47.4 on Sunday. Plenty more in it. Next meeting was a state championship round at NSW. Car was better but still a few issues. Best i dis was a 1.09.5. I think 1.08's with it all right.
These cars are great little cars and i wish i got into one earlier.
Easier to work on than the old cars. Cheaper, faster and more fun to drive.
The MX5 guys i have met at the 2 races i have done have been great people and i look forward to meeting the rest of you.
The car seems to be built to the same sort of specs as the QLD 2f MX5's. Not to many here in NSW. Some of the stuff done to the car is-
New race motor 210hp@flywheel
Haltech E8 computer
Tein Flex coil overs
Full weld in cage
Plus a heap more.
I look forward to racing with all you QLD 2F MX5's and hope you all come down to do the enduro's.
I know of another really good 2F car being built here in Sydney at the moment that should be ready mid year. This one will be a top notch car with a top notch driver.
Anyway come and say Gday at the races. My car is the #10 red NA.
Cheers
Brett

Welcome to the forum Brett.

I'm also a recent MX5 convert after racing an STi for a couple of years. I saw these guys here in QLD having so much fun and enjoying such close racing that I just had to be a part of it.

After searching for a few months I bit the bullet and purchased a 94 clubman to turn into a 2F car. If you're interested details are here: http://www.aus-cartalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=29879

I've only had one run in the car at QR but am planning on heading down for the FOSC meeting at Oran Park in June. Hopefully we might catch up there.

Paul.

Look forward to meeting you Paul

I will be at all the FOSC meetings this year. I have done all their meetings since they began a few years ago. I used to run my old car at them. They are great meetings and good value for money.
Mate our cars look very similar. I still have to paint the inside of mine yet. Will do it soon.
I will post some pics of it.

Cheers
Brett
