"QC checks" on new MX5s arriving in Brissie

Postby Troppo » Thu Feb 27, 2025 10:37 am

Hello all

My new MX5 is sitting on the wharf in Brisbane.

I have been told by the dealer that Mazda Australia are performing "QC checks" on new MX5s.

Have asked my dealer for more info.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks.

Sounds normal. Let them do their job. Processing things off docks take time.

QC = Quality Control. It's a good thing.

Could also be quarantined as well.

Here is the latest intel:

Yes we are hearing the same here in the states and Australia where they are holding the 35th Anniversary MX5's at ports due to Stability Control Module issues and parts are backordered. I also checked multple VIN's and other sites for MX5 Recalls or issues and nothing is published.

Mazda Australia REFUSE to divulge the nature of the problem.

I know for a fact that cars built after Dec 24 are OK - there is a Jan 25 built car for sale from a dealer near me.

My 35th AE was Scheduled on the 10/02/25 Built on the 18/02/25 and Shipped on 24/02/25. Ship unloaded at port of Melbourne 20-21/03/25.
I expect, and my dealer is also expecting my car to arrive 07/04/25
There is a lot of noise regarding delivery times and rightly so as some cars have been in country for some time but I believe that this last shipment to be the final 35th AE one. Then all cars will be delivered. As in all at once. I just hope I'm right.

P.s. I thought you were just referring to the 35th AE!

Yes, I don't know why it is classified information.

:?

Of course it would leak eventually...

Bad press pehaps, no press release makes it go away faster?

So this thread is misleading. It's not QC but a car problem. Why couldn't you just say that straight out.

If you read my first post, you will see that I am repeating what I was told by Mazda - "QC checks".....

Moreover, the phrase is in inverted commas, which indicate a quote....

Agreed, Troppo isn't asking about a car problem, he's asking if anyone has some information about what's happening with the MX-5s in port. Any knowledge of issues with the cars has only come from this discussion.

Also, not like we are bombarded with topics of conversation here, a red-herring thread (which this isn't) isn't going to consume much time.

I hope the cars get released soon!

I just received a call from my dealer telling me of a delay in delivery of new MX5s. All Mazda MX5 that have landed recently are to receive some sort of module replacement and a software re-flash at the port, before shipping to the dealers. Looks like it's a worldwide problem
They also generously offered a load car for the interim.

Cheers

It's been identified as the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) module that needs replacing plus a software update for same. I don't know just how long it is going to take, but I was told it may be a May/June delivery now.

Modern cars have too much tech to go wrong (proven here). Goes wrong even before delivery! Already time to sell it.
