2019 MX5–anyone actually see one in Oz yet?

Hi all,
The release date for the new MX5 was supposed to be mid September in Australia, however I can’t seem to find any dealers that actually have one. Are they not out yet or are they just that hard to find? Thanks!

They're definitely out. One of our club members had their new ND2 at a club run this weekend.

Thanks Guran! Will have to keep scouring. If anyone knows of the best Mazda dealer in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne (I live in Wagga so Sydney and Melbourne are equidistant) let me know. Our Mazda dealer here is hopeless...

Mazda dealers here in Canberra don't want to know about the MX5 Club, take that as a guide. How they go about selling 'product' I have no idea.
Check the NSW Club's site, there is at least one dealer sponsoring the Club, and one dealer sponsors a regularity Team - Blue Mountains Mazda.

Try Max Kirwan Mazda in Preston Vic <https://www.maxkirwan.com.au/>. Their Service Manager (if still in that position) was/is an MX5 Club member.
You could also try Mornington Mazda Vic as Dave Moore on here works or used to work there. IIRC, he went to a different dealership a year or so ago, but maybe he's back at Mazda.

Thanks for the replies! Not quite sure what to make out of wanting to buy a car with no local support. I mean, do local dealers not need any money? My wife went through this same thing with her all new 2019 Volvo (had to drive 6 hours one way to get it, no local help), but I just shrugged it off that she hit a few bad experiences with more local dealers.
It’s like pulling teeth to get a car in this country! Anyhow, thanks Cameron! Might have to trek 10 hours round trip just to buy a new vehicle. I know it’s worth it, but yea, it’s also pretty sad what the state of affairs are with buying a car in Australia.

We have an enormous range of cars to buy in this country and the motoring public are spoiled for choice. Anyone complaining of poor availability and dealers that don't care really have not seen where we came from.It the golden age for buying cars and a growing car park. I have not seen the sales figures for ND recently but I would guess the sales have gone down i.e. the cork popped and the contents have lost some of the fizz. A dealer can probably sell 50 CX whatevers for every MX so the buyer just has to shop around for availability.

A 5 hour drive in a new MX-5 is no chore, it's a great day we all wish we had more of! And it's a great way to bond with your new car.

I drove one at Penfold Mazda in Melbourne last week on Tuesday (Wednesday maybe?).
I was driving past and just went in for a sticky beak to see, turns out I was one of the first to drive it!

The Victorian and Tasmanian club have enjoyed a good level of support from Essendon Mazda. I understand they have a couple of the new NDs so give them a call. Mention my name for a special deal

No idea where you guys came from as I've only been in Australia 3 years (American, from Detroit actually, the Motor City!), so I'm just not used to it yet. But, it is what it is so I will just be happy they even have the new 2019 version here!

Thanks, yes, that's a good way to look at it! I just had to have a small vent, but I'm over it now.
