Hi people first time poster, just bought a NB MX5 in green about 2 weeks ago, love the car but it hasn’t been without it promblems.
Air con regas $150.00
New boot rubber $50
Cam angle sensor and replace clutch slave cylinder and repair puncture to front tyre $400
Replace left soft top latch with used $90
Left hand door lock fell inside door will try and fix tomorrow with a mate
Car purchase $5300 with 12 months rego
Boot still leaking carpet damp around the centre and upper right
Doesn’t anyone know were it might be coming from?
Any help will be appreciated

Check the tail lights rubber seal/gasket.

also the rubber seal around the middle brake light

Tail lights
rain rail
or even the hardtop chrome brackets with the 2 bolts ontop of them can leak
Aerial / antenna down tight sealing good also ?

How do I go about checking the rain rails?

Yup, I'd second the drains. Keep your face clear as it is usually a flood of water when clearing them.

Thanks for the replies guys I have cleaned out the drain holes behind the seats they were seriously blocked you should have. Seen the stuff that came out. The boot is still leaking with the water pooling around the battery on the drivers side and in the spot on the passenger side. Any ideas guys. My car is parked outside on incline with bonnet up toward the top of the incline and the boot on the downside of the incline. Could this be contributing to the water pooling in the boot?. If you have completely cleared the rain rail drains you could have cracks in the rail itself. You will have to get to the rail (it is where the roof attaches at the rear of the cabin/cockpit) and check it. Race tape will work to seal up any cracks until you can source a replacement rail.

Double check that the boot seal is fitted correctly.

Yes

If the drains and rail are properly cleaned, it would need to be a fairly severe incline for water to get into the boot.
