The end of Mazda-speed.com?

This could be the end of a great resource for NB SE owners..... :(

http://www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/index ... 678.0.html

While it may re-emerge in a limited form over on Miata.net, it will be a great shame to lose the archived information there.
I have learnt a lot about NB MX5s in general from this site, as a lot of the info applies to all NBs not just SE's.

Yeah, that will suck, but I understand it. It was a great site for the MSM/SE, but I think the moderators are a bit uptight there with rules and such and as a result suffocated the community that it could have been. If they expand the MSM section on miata.net it might suffice, though at the moment it's a wasteland.

Sounds like his heart's not in it, more than anything. The reason being, that SMF Forum can be converted into a more modern forum pretty easily. If he read a tutorial for ten minutes he could likely do it himself and if he didn't want to do that, I'm sure if he asked there would be plenty of tech-savvy people in the community who'd help him. So that's 1/2 issues solved. They can upgrade to better (free) software in no time flat. The other issue he raises is not getting sponsors. This is a real bugbear of mine when it comes to forums, podcasts and all sorts of stuff online these days. People throw their hands in the air and say they need money, sponsors, etc, when the reality is, hosting is quite cheap. For example, I pay US$11/m for a hosting package that I can hang unlimited URLs off, hosting websites, forums, etc. The traffic allowance is extremely generous, too. I would more likely fly to the moon than ever ask anyone from the three communities I currently host for that US$11/m to ever send me money. I sometimes wonder where the money goes for some websites, forums, podcasts, etc, that are raking in a lot of $$$ because it sure won't be on hosting. It's a commodity and it's cheap-as. So his second issue isn't really an issue... leading me back to the concept that it sounds like his heart's simply not in it, because the stuff he's complaining about is easily fixed, or not an issue to begin with.
