Advice on re-aligning power steering pulleys

Since the (latest

) rebuild BARMY has developed a habit of shedding power steering belts on downshifts. On the one hand this meant I went a bit less slowly at PI last time because of better steering feel but on the other hand its a PITA on the road with 225 R specs.
It seems the challenge is that the two pulleys (there's no air con now) are out of alignment.
My local mechanic isn't sure how to get them back into alignment. He's talking about maybe pushing one of them further on or pulling it further off.
Any thoughts please?

been a while since I looked at the mounts properly, but from memory it's as simple as slipping a shim (washer) between the power steering pump and the bolt holding it in place (the pivot at the bottom)
Essentially leaving the pulley and moving the entire pump a little to align it properly.
I may be remembering incorrectly though.

I bet its endfloat, ie worn pump, not the alignment.

Frankly, it doesn't really matter.
I've never had any issues with generic ones from bursons
From memory its a GMB brand or something

if it's a track car consider ditching the power steering. Possibly ok for a daily as well depending on you and caster etc.

Everybody starts talking about water pump - was Dann talking about that or the PS pump? Is the water pump even on the same belt?

Dave, if you depowering the rack properly rather then just running no belt on the pump the steering would get easier.
