Any ND owners use the proximity lock feature?

I have a small issue, I use the Proximity lock which is a great feature but when I get out to fill the car up with fuel, it locks just as I get to the petrol cap.
Because the petrol cap is a push open style, it locks also. Then I have to piss about with getting the key out of my pocket and unlocking the car before I can open the cap and fill up.
I asked Mazda and they said the delay or distance cannot be changed.
I find this most strange as my wife's CX5 has the same feature and you need to be about 4 metres from her car before it locks, mine locks when I get to the cars bum.
Anyone experience similar issues? Is mine faulty and it should be similar to the CX5?

Perhaps too much testing in the US market where the "gas cap" is on the same side as the driver, and not enough long drive testing in Japan? Hope Dave and find you a solution, it's awesome having a dealer who's also an enthusiast.

PM Sent, thank you so much for your help

.
note: I do have to say though, filling up is a rarity, completely different to my Liberty GT which used 16.8 L/100 ;)

off topic, but we're getting 7.5l/100km in the 2.0l.
needs less economy and more fast.

Slightly off topic, Is the proximity lock on all NDs?
Our GT has the keyless start and a button on the door handle to lock / unlock and we've never noticed the car lock itself when walking away?

Mine sits around 8.2 as my drive to work is 7 k's of suburbia but coming home from Newcastle the other day it said 5 point something

In the infotainment settings, you will find the walk away lock feature, it's turned off by default. Turn it on and it locks itself when you walk away from the car if all doors are closed and engine is off (and in park if an auto)
Do any of you guys use the fuel economy app? I have mine set to show me a summary when I turn the car off, it's quite interesting

.
Need more apps, maybe an animated speedo and tacho ;)

I don't use the proximity lock feature as I would get too stressed that it didn't lock when it walked away. A guy on the UK mx5 club forum was so annoyed about the petrol cap issue he made a video about it

Mazda will add 50g to a newer version and have a sensor on each side of the car.

In MZD go to Settings/?Vehicle/Door lock and change it from 30s to 90s. That should give you enough time to get to the filler cap. Mind you, 30s should be enough too. Maybe also look on the same screen for if auto lock is enabled and consider disabling it.

Only Roadster GTs have it.
Roadsters do not have it.
Lock on walk away needs to be enabled, if you want it, on the MZD screen in Settings/Vehicle/Door lock.

That time is only for the auto
RElock ie if you unlock the door then don't open it, it will relock in that many seconds.

Perhaps your ND has auto lock turned on and the CX-5 doesn't?
