Just ordered one of these from Sydney Tools - delivered for $139. At 15kg, a whole lot lighter that the 25+kg unit from Costco...and cheaper too!

Thanks. I was looking at buying one of these jacks this holiday season.

No problem. I've been eyeing it on eBay but wasn't prepared to pay $200+. I figured someone else would be interested.

I ordered one 5 minutes after my post. Killed my last jack about 2 months ago.

I had one of these Bryan from Sydney tools but had to take it back because it wouldn't fit under the white car.

I exchanged it for a 1.2 ton low profile one for about another $60.00 but its so much better.

The guys I dealt with at Taren point were absolutely hopeless as well as their customer service department, hopeless as well.
I swore after the last thing I bought from them I would never use them again.

Richard.

I see they are 'BIG red' branded jacks. I have seen very poor quality from some of their other products. Seal leaks, metal filings in the oil etc.

I was looking for a 'racing jack' about 12 months ago but didn't buy one as the ones that would fit under the front of the MX5 were all way more than $200.
I did a lot of research on the net and couldn't buy anything locally that would go under the air dam.
The key question is "what is the max height of the body of the jack" - as it has to go about a metre in from the front of the car.

I've always just jacked from the sides, to me it's easier than spending the huge sums on a fancy jack.

Height wise my jack just clears the sills on my car, i basically push the jack against the sill, then with my other hand grab the sill and give it a lift to get the extra 2mm needed to reach the jack cup. (my jack is a regular old steel 2500kg one)
Sometimes i'll just roll a wheel onto a piece of wood to get the extra clearance.

I rarely jack from the diff or front subframe anyway, due to there being essentially no jacks that will fit.

Snap-on/blue point a super low, long reach jack...

Part number SNX1LLTJ
I was quoted $611.57 inc.

One day I might have that to spend on a jack...

low ramps, then jack.

if it needs to go in 100cm, then i doubt any jack will fit, as you need the handle attached to the jack also. most jacks are only 40-50cm in length.
