Generally group buys (like this) are fine without being a sponsor.
Sponsorship is supposed to be more for people who are selling things often.
So if you were to offer these every 6months, then maybe you'd need to talk to admin, but since it sounds like a one off it should be fine.

I am definitely interested depending on cost and know a number of others who probably would be too.

Yep, I'm literally on the garage5 website, so lock me in for a set as long as price is not ridiculous.

If we were to machine these on our CNC they would be less than $100/set and they would look a hell of a lot better than the one pictured.
10 would be a good number though. How does that compare to your quote?.
We are working on these at the moment for a few guys on here. (Including me)

How would they look better? Not trying to be a dolt Richard, just curious.

Finish would be better with no scratches from polishing on inside diameters. If you look at the finish, it is torn looking. Using the right tips they come off the machine looking much smoother and shinier than that. Its mainly due to the grade of aluminium used.
Don't get me wrong, they do look good in the picture. Im just a bit of a fussy old prick. The naked eye would probably not even notice that. I know my eyes wouldn't any more but zoomed in, they didn't look as good as they could be.
I really want one of those dashes for my white car as well. hopefully one with less than 180,000km on it so the car will be newer and better

I dont know where you got yours from but mine has no scratches. These were made by some one who used to make stereo volume controls and they are highly made to perfection. If you are referring to the grooves on the aluminium, they were left to look like that (volume control), its the CNC lines.
On the other note, I took the rings to four different CNC engineering factories and they all said this job would take a lot of time due to how delicate the edges are and the problem of grabbing the ring from finished side after you CNC one side. Garage 5 sell their own version which is just a straight forward ring for $160 USD. So if you can make the set for less than $100, then we are interested, when are you going to make them? Ive just taken some photos of the ring:

The finish could be deliberate to reduce reflections from the rings, has that been considered?

These is no issue of reflection from the rings. The original glass that was supplied had some reflection but Revlimiter produced anti reflection glass to fit RS Refine Rings.

Easy enough to make. If you would like to send me your rings we could copy them dimensionally and make a couple of samples.
Address in in my signature
These rings will take no more than 1 min for the first operation and maybe another min for the second operation. The cost is purely in the set up time and to machine soft jaws to hold the ring plus the cost of the aluminium and anodizing if needed.
Attached is the 5 axis lathe they will be machined on.
Anyway the offer is there if you like.

Richard, good to know(machining in general), especially as you are local to me
