So, iv heard a few different things from a few different people, and what i wanna know is, Is a coolant reroute a good idea or a bad idea?
people have told me that they redesigned the flow for the head so that it doesn't have cylinder 4 cooling issues, i just wanna see if this is right or wrong,
and if i should just do the reroute on me new motor?

Short answer is, "Yes do it."
Long answer is, "Do you really want the long answer?"

Ideally you change the head gasket to an earlier one, however a VVT motors cooling is still improved with a reroute without doing this.

gotta get an oversize head gasket, 85.5mm, dont think a stock gasket would fit

Purchase an na8 headgasket, in that case. the na8 gasket and a reroute is the ultimate easy solution, and is pretty much ideal.

Yeah, I just checked a couple of NA8 gaskets that I've got: 84.4.

The NA8 gasket that I'm using now came with every available port between the block and head fully open.
The one I had before that was maybe an NB one and there were 4 or 5 available ports blocked off. I ended up drilling them all out and opening them with a burr grinder before I fitted it. It's not easy to mod a gasket, they're hard as buggary and there's a risk of jamming removed metal in between the MLS layers but it is doable.

Paul, use a Cometic head gasket cut to 85.5mm. You can buy from Deckspeed or Fabre in Australia, or 949 racing or Trackspeed in the states. They use the NA8 / NB8A pattern. You will need to use a rerouted cooling system.
You can also use a Maruha head gasket, but they are very, very expensive.

i found a cometic one on 949 and its 102$ says suitable for 85.5mm but im not sure if it comes at 85.5 or if it can be cut to 85.5mm
