Car trailer

Postby Apu » Wed Jun 03, 2015 3:59 pm

I sold my trailer as it was just a bit too snug for the Integra, so now I'm looking for one that's 15' x 6'6" with a beaver tail...the thing is, there seems to be quite a variation in prices - anywhere from $3000 to $4500.

Hoping to get recommendations on any trailers anyone has bought in Sydney...ideally closer to the $3K mark.

Or...does anyone have a trailer for sale?

I realise it is not a recommendation as such, and I'm sure some of the more sports orientated members will respond,

but have you checked out www.my105.com

There are a number of trailers there for sale, for example;

Thanks juffa. I have looked at my105 but as I mentioned, I need a 15' x 6'6" trailer - the Integra is wider than the old GC WRX.

No idea about price, but have you spoken to any local trailer builders for a rough quote?

Alternatively, is there anything stopping you from modifying the existing trailer?

I assume the ramps are ok width wise and it's mainly the raised side rails that are the problem? It should be fairly easy to cut them off and widen them with some box section.

edit:
Just read properly.
Modifying isn't going to help if you sold the trailer already.....

I sold the trailer and will be going to a couple of trailer manufacturers on the weekend. The most basic tandem trailers $3-3.5K...again, this has to comfortably fit the Integra.

If it fits the Integra, the MX5 won't be a problem.

Kuncha - I'll look Elf up, thanks!

I have an Elf, had it about 7-8 years. Paint is crap, needed a minor mod on the spring hangers, but otherwise all good. I bought trailer without floor, and put ramps on it, about 300kgs for dual axles. I also used small wheels to lower the guards and allow the door of the racecar to be opened.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Lou and Beavis - wash your mouths out! Oh wait...this is the wrong forum...

I chose to track the Integra as it just wasn't as fun driving it on the streets. Despite being a Type R, it was just a noisy Civic at legal speeds and I didn't mind not driving it to be honest.

The MX5 on the other hand...I'd find an excuse to go out even if it was just a quick scoot around the block.

I've ordered a new trailer from Unique Trailers. Cost a little bit more as I wanted new wheels - I used 14" instead of their standard 15s. This allowed the trailer to ride lower, and for them to lower the guards to clear the doors better. They will also angle the beavertail a bit more to allow for a lower ramp angle.

I pick it up tomorrow!
