Looking for info on NC with 2.5 L conversions

Postby magenb » Wed Dec 24, 2014 4:50 pm

I can find more dyno sheets than I can poke a stick at, but I would like to find out how much difference this conversion make to acceleration (0-100, 1/4 mile etc), does any one have any info one this? I would really like to see how much difference it makes with just standard cams and exhaust if possible.

From my understanding they are grabbing parts out of a mazda 3 or 6, but some others are doing it from Ford models.

I've dríven a 2.5 equipped nc. Man they are pretty good. Plenty of low down torque, they loose a bit up the top end.

If I don't end up with a ND, I'll be going the 2.5 route
MY07 NC, Mazdaspeed Body, Ohlins, Full GWR Exhaust, 17x9 RPF1's, 4.1FGR and lots lots more

Where are you located?

Mine was recently done. Headers, muffler and intake.

Haven't dríven it much but it's a significant difference. Much more willing and fun.

Can I get more info?

E.g who did it, how much, where the engine came from etc

I'd love to see it but I'm down in Wollongong.

Deckspeed did if for me. Cost wise 7k.

Engine is a 2.5L from a Mazda 3 SP25 or Mazda 6.

They reuse the 2.0L head from your engine and bolt it on the 2.5L after some modifications.

Gee...I'd forgotten you'd done the conversion Trevor. I was quite surprised by how quickly you caught up to me at Wakefield.

Sounds like a plan :)

Has no one with a 2.5l been curious enough to time the difference in acceleration?
