Hey all need to get my mc mx5 in for a service, and also get a funny noise checked out. Im really concerned about getting ripped off for something that may be small (the noise) and get ripped off.
I was thinking of trying the mx5 faxtory in melbourne (aka Dick Richey)

has anyone use them , do they recommend them,

ive used mazda preston before but i cant justify the 120 per hour charge for a apprentise to work on my car... its not right)

or can someone please recommend an honest mx5 mechanic who will have sound knowledge of the nc, cos of the funny noise i have

thanks
rob

Dick is nice (the person) and the young aprentice guy is really switched on and actually enthused to show me around my car while it was on the hoist.
I rang around for quotes on what I wanted done and they were actually the cheapest. They had about 7 MX5s in the shop when I went including an nb8b with an aftermarket turbo.

Call Dick at the MX5 factory and make a time to see him. Some years ago I was experiencing a minor vibration in my NB, we spent an hour together FOC.
Greg.
Why do so many people have difficulties with mechanics and then assume that they are all dodgy? Take a pad with notes on what is bothering you, tell them what you expect, note their responses and get a quote if you are comfortable.

Personally I would go elsewhere.

My partner has had bad experiences with Factory, and a few other people I know have also had a few things missed/mistaken when the car has come back from their shop.

Thankfully the MX5 isn't a complex car, so most workshops can do them. I have used Allmaz for mechanical work in the past and was happy with them, i;m not sure if they would have the time to hunt a rattle though (I've only used them for big stuff, clutch etc)
