Seeing the shape in video a few times now, I'm started to really like it - the rear makes sense when you see it in that context, you start to get a handle on the actual shape of it. Loving the roof action, too - I think Mazda have done a lot of work in maintaining a lot of what made the NA so popular.

I think they've got this thing pretty right from a mechanical and styling view point

Thanks for putting this video up..

:? The roof is the same as the NC soft top arrangement. The only difference is the hard shell material under the top panel.

Did anyone notice how easy he made it look to put up the roof?!?! He only used one hand and it didn't take long! My NA8 requires me (and my noodle arms) to get outa the car to do anything with the roof...

Regarding a hardtop option, I wonder if it's possible to just clip on a plastic cover over the cloth just for that little extra protection in those questionable suburbs. :D

Actually went to the Paris Motor Show last week. I can't provide any more details than what's already known, but I can say that the ND in person is a beautiful car! I was at first skeptical of its styling in the photos, especially the headlights and tail lights, but in the flesh, its angles and proportions are just right. I'm not sure about its dimensions, but it looks tiny compared to the NC. I think Mazda's done a great job. My favourite touch is the high front wheel arches with the bonnet dipping in the middle towards the nose.

Of interest, it wasn't the only MX-5 on display at the show. In another hall was an exhibition of how cars have trended like fashion over 100 years. And amongst cars like the original Mercedes Gullwing (drool) and a 20's Bugatti on display, was an NA!

Ignore the tragic 80's/90's inspired models molesting the car.
