NA headlight arm - how to get it off?

I thought I had stripped the teeth on the headlight motor, but turns out it's the arm that connects the motor to the headlight that's stripped. I've got the whole assembly out of the car at the moment but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the arm off the bracket. Any thoughts?

For the visual of those amongst us, I need to replace part number 4 in the image below.

Subject to confirmation from someone who has done it. The usual set up is the connecting link has a socket on the ends which engages with a ball head bolt ie forming a ball joint. It iis normally a snap fit. If the plastic in the socket cracks or wears it will create a loose connection. It should come off with some leverage but I have not seen the MX5 headlamp assys so I might be off track.

If it is as Mr M suggests, then a smear of hair conditioner before removing it will not be wasted.
