Lots of renders about!

I don't like that render.....To me...That looks like a sedan with the roof cut off

This looks more like a sports car (lower grill)

Agree. Like your posted one better. More of Z4 front, Boxster rear.

I don't mind that render (posted by Odd)
The big ugly Mazda 'power mouth' doesn't do a lot for me, but if you have to use it on a sports car then at least keep it low and a reasonable size.

I'm not a fan of really prominent generic styling features on makes without any particular 'history' to serve.
For the last 30years Alfas have suffered from the companies determination to base their front clip styling around a grille shape that doesn't work with modern styling.
BMW manage it really well however.

I believe that Alfa had additional issues than just there triangle shaped grill.
BMW grill may suit their styling but I wouldn't say they're beautiful.
The na6 was and still is beautiful :)

Both the original renders look more like what a RX7 convertible would look like. Looks to heavy (visually) for a MX5.

The car looks good. Just wait until Sept 3 for proof. Is it ok to say in Australia that Mazda have gone back to the MX5 roots?

Coupe.....Why?

Mx-3, Mx-6...coupes....been and gone

Mx-5....open sports car....successful for 25 years

History says a coupe is a waste of time and effort

An MX5 will remain a convertible but I would be amazed if an electric folding hard top is not offered just as it was with NC. Mazda still made the tourer but stopped importing it. If the car goes back to no frills it will probably also go to no sales.

I'd agree if the ND is priced $60,000+
But...I understand the price will drop....and the intent is to recapture the original concept
The concept has worked for 25 years and survived a GFC.....
I believe there is great potential for the original concept....and I think Mazda understand

I'm a baby boomer.....had Healey sprites....before kids
Now have Grandkids and a NA8.....Loving life!
Seems many in the MX-5 car club are of similar vintage

I believe there are many more like me.....that can afford a toy car
If the price is right

Dupain, we will see.
Toyota and Honda are reviving small sportscars with the the upcoming baby 86 and S660 or whatever they're calling it.

If the ND and the others sell well, they will stick around.

Makes a lot of sense in my book - better, more cost effective utilization of the platform, especially if you're designing them side by side. Only question is for Marketing to work out if the coupe would make enough conquest/new buyer sales to justify the tooling, design and other costs - would they call it an MX-5, or something else to avoid diluting the name plate, possibly with some styling differentiators.
