I would reccomend disconnecting the battery and leaving a heavy object on the brake pedal overnight firstly.

be sure to disconnect the airbag plug before starting.

be sure not to mess up the clock spring.

Process is essentially the same for most cars. Make sure the wheels are straight before you remove the wheel as there is no way to tell which spline is centre.

Because that would flatten your battery (brake lights on). Ignore the idiot. Leave the heavy object on his...

Notice he said to disconnect the battery first? I would imagine that it is to remove any residual current to stop the air bag from possibly firing.

Yea but you dont need to leave it over night. A few pumps of the brake pedal will get rid of residual power/current.

In case anyone hasn't given you a heads up.

Removing the airbag wheel makes your car un-roadworthy and thus voids your insurance cover.

Just to add my experience with my aftermarket wheel, I recently went over the pits for my yellow sticker and neither the police officer or the pit inspection guy mentioned anything about it, I even made a claim on my previous NB (which had a nardi) that I wrote off and had the claim come through no problem. So while it may be illegal and I believe I had some luck involved I don't think it's as severe as everyone makes it out to be; I'm sure the government could find something unroadworthy on most of our cars.

thanks for all input.

Okibi - i didn't know that & will confirm with my insurer which is just car..im sure they have some allowance given they specialise in modded & imported cars, in saying that driving on a race track also voids insurance.. so that alone won't stop me from doing it.

on a side note though, has anyone here with aftermarket wheel on NB8B had issues with rego/pink slip?

You may get your Rego, and you may get your pink slip, then...... you may then get pulled over and defected...... :|

* Whatever you do, keep the old steering wheel and airbag, you may need to re-install them.
