Freight from NSW to WA

Fellow MX5 people, I need some advice please. I have bought some seats for my NB8B from a chap in Ryde NSW, I have to get them collected from his home and brought to my pace of business in Joondalup WA. Most freight companies will not pick up from residential addresses and those that do cannot give me a pickup time. This makes it difficult for the seller to be home when the courier arrives. Delivery is not a problem as it is a business premises and is always available during business hours.

Helpful suggestions are welcome as Im sure this problem arises from time to time.

Cheers

Col

I'm pretty sure e-go you can choose a pickup slot (usually in hour slots)

spot on Col- you need the seller or a mate to take the items to a freight depot. If the seller is working at a business address and the business is helpful the goods can be handed over. You do need to have the items suitably packed- put on a pallet whatever. If you nominate a pick up point and there is no one there you get charged for a missed pickup. If you have a contact in a business in Sydney that would be a good start at least for pick up and packing. I had the same problem- I could arrange thru a contact a pick up with a freight co they had an account with but there was no guarantee the guy was there all day- so the seller took the item to E go and packed albeit badly. My item was just about indestructible so it worked out. The co you work for may have an account with a interstate freight co so that is another thing to think about.

PS you will need to know the size and weight of the goods as well. If its goes on a pallet you can probably calculate that fairly easily.

try greyhound freight, they do pickup for an extra charge, otherwise depot to depot is quite competitive with other businesses.

For reference I've quoted sending 4 wheels from Sydney to Perth, depot to depot with e-Go as 2 packages (boxed, 65x65x50cm).
Comes out as ~$170 which isn't bad when you consider how far they've got to go and how much they weigh (~45kg each box).

Many thanks to all who replied to my plea, unfortunately all to no avail, firstly with E-Go the quote was nearly $400 which was about twice what I expected, Greyhound does come to western Australia but only to Kununurra and Broome, some 2000 kms short of Perth. Most other freight companies will not pickup from private addresses.

Happily the seller Yemin took pity on me and offered me my money back, an offer I was happy to take. The seats concerned were I consider, a bargain at the agreed price but add on $400 almost and it became uneconomic.

Again thanks to all concerned and especially to Yemin, I apologise for messing him around, next time I will source a quote before commiting to buy.

Cheers

Late to the party, but I've used Pack n Send before who picked up seats left accessible from a residence (with no one home). I also paid a bit extra to Pack n Send to package them in the cost.
