1999 Anniversary Model Leather Gear Knob Cover

Hi
Just need some details about how to get the leather cover off the gear stick knob so I can stick some glue on it to stop the leather bit spinning around. Had it fixed a few years ago & watched the guy do it - but he can't remember plus he is in Forbes & I am in Cairns. It seems all gear knobs are different & I am getting sick of mechanics telling me it can't be done - it can I have seen it. I just need the instructions to be able to tell a mechanic! Mazda Australia tell me to see a motor trimmer but it was a mechanic that did it the first time when I had the shifter rebuilt. Please please please - I have been trying to get this solved for two years now.
Not all knobs unscrew at the top some have screws under the leather boot it seems - so really need someone with my car!
