18K paint... Nb8a gold

ran up the back of a truck this morning at a set of lights.

Thankfully I work in the detailing section of a dealership, so I was able to pick up a freebie of 18K paint and hardener.

He only gave me the colour however. I assume there is no need for clear. The metallic is suspended in the base coat.

Is this true? Is there no need for a clear coat on the top of my repair?

Thanks!

Dan.

I know my red NB has a clear coat ... it's peeling in a couple of places.

Clear coats are part of metallic systems. You don't say whether this is a scratch or a remove prepare paint or bake etc. talk to the painter.

I thought all modern paints required a clear. Only super bodgy repairers do without (acrylic?)

On NA and early NB's solid colours are not clear coated while the metallic/mica colours are.
