Interesting little aside that was missed in the Geneva Show comments from the Fiat CEO that he suggested Abarth would be a better fit for their version of the MX-5 than Alfa Romeo, which makes a bit more sense.

Why not bring back the barchetta, a hell of a roadster?

Well.........the 1.8 is an option in Japan and Europe. And Honda's current naturally asiprated 1.5 direct injection isn't far behind that motor for power and torque. Put a Skyactiv spin with weight a bit less than the NC, could work for the Japanese or European markets.

If it looks like that and has a 1.5 skyactiv at the right price I'll be one very happy Mazda salesperson. If there's a 2.0 skyactiv with flappy paddles I might even cop the FBT to have one as a company car. If there's a 2.5 with flappiness I'm defo in.

yeah the mock up is vry pretty but I bet the actual car looks nothing like this.

A really revvy 2.5 sounds nice and would trump the 86 but that prob won't happen either. :|

134kW Sounds like a mild detune of the 2.5 or a significant upgrade of the 2.0. The 2.5 is heavier so probably isn't a "fit". And the 2.0 already has a 13:1 comp ratio. So I wonder where 20 more kW will come from? 1.5 with turbo?

Yeah, 1.5 with a turbo.

Its basically a modern NA chassis with a multilink.

Can't wait.

I hope it's priced more realistically than the current version once it hits the show room,.
