Hey guys... What are r best ways you are fixing your air conditioning performance on a turbo se...... Is putting exhaust heat wrap beneficial? What type of insulation are you using for the lines?



My fuses, fans and gas are all proper. But since the lines sit next to the turbo and manifold they just get heat soaked and fail to cool the car.... Usually cooler with windows down then ac on.


Any tips?

check your condenser for a gas leak

Mine works fine, usually only use '2' on the fan speed setting.....

I suspect you may have another issue.

Ill get the pressure test done.... It blows air colder then outside temp but not enough to drive with the windows up.... I noticed under the glove box with the fan blowing air comes out of the joins between the fan and the large box thst I presume is the heater core.

Give this a go. If this doesn't help then go and get the air con checked out.

the air will take the path of least resistence. why go past the cooler core when it can exit there.

fix this, try your ac again.

I have a NB, the AC pipes dont run the same as the na's

Mine run directly past the turbo and manifold, the only thing i can think of that would help is maybe exhaust wrap.


The heaterbox underneath the glove box i have no idea how to seal... i think maybe the foam is all missing by the look of it.... it seems difficult to remove so i might just chuck a sh*t load of masking tape around what i can to stop the air escaping.... i dunno..

I'm pretty sure that some SP owners here have wrapped the air-con piping with the rubber insulation. Am I right in thinking that the SE and the SP would have a similar layout?

You could always wrap the insulation with exhaust wrap for extra protection.

Could this be the 'flapper' door on the ventilatin system not closing properly? There is a way of adjusting it so that when you move the cold/hot lever it closes/seals properly.

Check that the factory undertray and ducting are all in place and sealed around the radiator. My undertray was a useless POS so I made my own ducting and suddenly cold AC from air actually going through the heat exchanger. Also check the AC fan comes on.

Masking tape or race tape will be fine to block the air leaks from the under dash pipes.

Ill have a look at this,
My fans, condenser,relays and so forth all function correctly.

I taped up the gaps in the ducts and heaterbox. Its a massive improvement already.
Ill have a look at getting some insulation and i have some spare heat wrap. ill do the AC lines and see how that goes.

No, this is not a part of the problem. I have checked it already.

Having owned an SE from new, I can say that when stationary, the A/C struggled. The ONLY time I ever took it back to Mazda service was to have the A/C checked and all was good. Now owning an MSM in the US where the A/C lines are on the other side, I can report that in ~40c days, the A/C works the way it should.

I think Mazda made a mistake on these regarding the A/C lines on RHD the SE.

Just my 2c
