There was at least one place in Melb in the past that hired out NCs, but that was before 2008: http://www.melbournesportscarrentals.com.au

To which you can add:
Dean @ Motorsports Essentials, 6 Macbeth St, Braeside, 9587 0079; or
Gerald & Chaz @ Mammi Motors, 10 Industrial Drv, Somerville, 5977 7973; or
Allmaz, 492 Clayton Rd, Clayton, 9544 7044.
Also from a performance perspective: Dan & Daz @ Road Track Rally, 18 Short St, Dandenong, 9792 4024.

Re write-offs including flood damage, assuming it was declared:

Also re write-offs including flood damage, get a comprehensive inspection done, but be aware that the inspection may not come with any or much of a guarantee, so ask about this so that you know exactly what you are getting given a comprehensive inspection will not be cheap.

Just hit up a car dealer and go for a hoon in some on the lot. That's a good place to start.

Very simple- just go to a dealer(s) and get a test drive- its a good chance you will buy from a dealer anyway- often better than private sellers. You either want one or not i.e. don't enjoy the test drive(s) forget it- there is not any comparo to Old English sports cars are concerned as regards function. The same rule applies to the purchase of any car- check what you are getting. Pre inspection- your call- but many dealers already do this and if you are buying from bigger ones they often will not retail the cars that they are not comfortable with. Ring RACV and ask what you get and what price and then weigh up the car that you are looking at and decide if its worth the check.
