Weird Rattling sound + Click sound...?
Hey guys...
So my clutch seems to be playing up -
It's making an odd rattling sound with the clutch pedal at rest, but when I push it in - the rattling stops.
Also, when I push the clutch in, there is a "click/squish" sound - and it can also be felt.
Can't be the thrust bearing, as it was changed. It was making this sound before and after the clutch was changed.
Video of the rattling and click sound can be heard here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OXziec5 ... e=youtu.be
EDIT::::::::::::::: I'd like to add that the rattling only occurs at low RPMs. If I rev it or hold the revs slightly higher, it disappears.
Thanks, appreciate any info/help.
Dan.

So i've just done a little reading - and apparantly one cause could be the spring in the clutch creaking....
What the...
It's an Exedy Sports Tuff Heavy-Duty Button clutch, with the Mania Chromoly 4.7KG flywheel.
Hmm....

it sounds like the thrust bearing to me..
you sure it was changed when you did the clutch
could also be the spigot bearing perhaps

for Regie's thoughts.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

My na makes this sound to Rasputin, I always put it down to the spigot and or thrust bearing as Regie said, as the age and condition of the clutch is unknown in my case.
I would be interested to know what it is if you manage to hunt it down.

This exact scenario happened to me.
Was the spigot bearing in the end, almost 100% seized up.
Not sure if that means your issue is 100% the spigot bearing, but your symptoms are identical to mine.

Is it a costly procedure? Obviously the whole box and clutch assembly needs to come off... Sigh.. They jus had the damn thing off 3 weeks ago!!!!!!

Might they have been remiss in the work already done? and if so the cost burden should be theirs.

I didn't bring the noise to their attention, as I assumed it was a rooted throw out bearing. They did test drive it, so it can go either way I guess. I hope they are lenient as I'll be spending many dollars over the course of Christmas and early January.

Re: Weird Rattling sound + Click sound...?
ahh so a workshop did the work
im guessing they didn't change the throw out bearing....they should be coughing up for that provided it came supplied in your clutch kit (most of the kits do these days)

I'd be checking the invoice to see if it was listed (either parts or labour)
I'm pretty sure the excedy kits come with a new bearing.

Re: Weird Rattling sound + Click sound...?
I've only owned my na for about a week so I haven't had a chance to check out what it is, but mine does the exact same thing. Seems to only do it once the car has been running for a little while. It had the gearbox changed only about a month ago and has a fairly new clutch, I'd be interested to see what yours ends up being. The sound goes away with even the tiniest touch of the clutch. I've only noticed my noise when idling

Re: Weird Rattling sound + Click sound...?
Mania did the work - I doubt they'd not install the new bearing that came in the box with the clutch. They're very finicky. I'd say it's something else.
