Can anyone recommend a defensive driving course in Brisbane?

I'm learning to drive now but I'm pretty nervous about my car having no safety mechanisms like ABS or airbags.

With enough practice and caution I can prevent myself from crashing, but I can't prevent other people from causing a crash. I'd like to take a good defensive driving course (or courses) to protect myself from shitty drivers and unexpected events.

Can anyone recommend any in or near Brisbane?

Whilst I can not comment on their defensive driving courses they run a very good track day and skid pan sessions.

I can HIGHLY recommend http://www.roadcraft.net.au/
They are terrific.
They are at Gympie, on their own facilities and we did a two day course.
Stayed the night in a cheap hotel.

You will enjoy it, and come away exhausted and saturated with new skills to practice and info.
Definitely worth the drive up and back.

As Magpie suggested SDT. They do a range of courses. Contact the office as they do a road safety program/course that sounds like it will be the right course for you, it's aimed at young drivers with not a lot of experience.

Big advantage of SDT courses is you use their cars and during the course you will drive a variety of cars to learn what each does, eg FWD, RWD, ABS, non ABS and ESC and non ESC cars.

This course is very similar to the school course they do which has had over 100,000 students attend over the years.

Once you complete a defensive driving course and get some more experience then look at doing some more advanced courses if you want to go the extra steps.
