For how many of you is your MX5 a 2nd car?

Postby r0gue » Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:10 am

Just curious to see if many people own their MX5 as a weekend car or a daily driver.

Considering both option at the moment however obviously as a daily driver I can justify a new NC but as a 2nd car it would be a late series NA or and NB.

Cheers,
r0gue

My NB8B is my daily driver and I love it! A lot of people say they are uncomfortable blah blah blah but they are a sports car after all and I cant think of anything better to make my boring journey to work in :)

I have two MX-5s.

NA6 purchased in 2009 as a 3rd car for trackdays and weekends.

NC2 purchased in 2012 as a 2nd car for daily drive duties and weekends (family of three).

My 2008 Suzuki Jimny is my primary car and my 2005 NC LE is my second car but not necessarily just a weekender...whatever I'm in the mood for on the day is the one that's gets dríven.

My nc2 is my daily driver. I wanted something reasonably comfortable otherwise I was tempted to get an NB turbo

Our family car I bought earlier this year is a nissan xtrail 4wd turbo diesel (with the six speed) which is very enjoyable to drive. Great for transporting our baby and 3 dogs at a time

Lol, mine is the fourth but I hate the 206 GTi (anyone want to buy it?), wife drives the SP23, and I only really use the forester for holidays and offroad. 90% of my driving is mx5.

NB8A is daily drive/track day car

'89 NA B-Spec is the FUN car, great for the mountains, coffee runs, all that stuff and when you like people walking past asking questions about it

GTS86 simply fills the spare space in the garage! No, for longer trips interstate [none done so fat in it] where more room is required - you can't pack the luggage to come home and strap your mother to a boot rack!

As per my signature
NC as 1st car and daily driver
NA as 3rd car
NB as 4th car, for the track.

I have a people mover as my daily beater but I drove my NA6 before it.

Hard to find an MX-5 in such bad condition you don't get nervous about parking it in a shopping centre carpark.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I have a Focus XR5 Turbo as my daily driver. Good fun and flexible when I need to carry extra stuff.

The NC is the 2nd car for weekends and when I want some extra fun.
