[VIC] MX-5 Stolen

Hey guys,
Not sure if this is the right forum, please move if needed mods

Today my NA6 was stolen from Glenroy Train Station. I put this up in the hopes someone comes across it somewhere. It is a (faded) Red 1989 NA6 Rego YNC450. It has aftermarket rims and a rollbar, but otherwise mostly stock.
Massive bummer

The irony is that I was test driving a new car today....is it a sign?
Might as well turn this thread into something interesting - have you ever had a car stolen? What was the outcome?
Cheers guys.

Had two Sierra 4x4s stolen in quick succession in the UK in the early 90s. They were very easy to break into and to start and were decent things with 150bhp (wow!). The red 2.9 was eventually recovered after being used in a ram raid. The blue 2.8 never came back. Insurance paid out for the damage and for the loss. The most annoying thing was the thought that someone who probably didn't work for a living gained from all the hard work I had to put in to afford the cars.

I had my beautiful 280ZX stolen from Miranda Westfields 3 weeks after I got my B45 Simmons put on.
Worst thing is they found it at Roselands Westfields on the roof in the rain minus the wheels, the targa roofs and my Head unit and fully sick box in the boot containing 2 x Jensen 6x9's and 2 x 10" subs along with 2 Rockford Fosgete punch 150 amps.
NRMA wrote it off and gave me 11 grand as they scratched some of the panels and the targa roofs were 2k to replace. I bought it back for $3400 rebuilt, repainted and fixed it up better than it ever was. It was a 3 month labour of love but really satisfying when it was done. All up spending about 4k more than NRMA gave me.
Kept it for another 2 years and sold it for $7000. The arse really fell out of the second hand market when you could buy a brand new Hyundai for 12K (Thanks Dave, I'm blaming you for that as well)
Should have taken the money and bought a 1.6 Corolla twin cam hatch with the writing under the doors. They were cool.
Moral of the story. Insurance people know how much it costs to repair cars better then a cocky 22 year old.
Richard.

Good luck finding yours.
My son had a Toyota Corona wagon with the 4 cylinder Holden Starfire motor. It was a truly horrible, horrible car. It was stolen one night in Newie. We found it a couple of days later abut 200m away from where it was taken. That was probably as far as they could bear to drive it. It got stolen again a few weeks later and we reported it to police. 8 months later we got a notice from them to remove it from a street in Merewether about 2 ks away, otherwise we'd be charged for dumping.
A neighbour in Fitzroy had his stolen and found it again 3 days later in almost the same spot, now full of Macdonalds wrappers. The police called it a Centrelink weekend getaway.

Not defending Hyundai but the arse fell out of the value of the car when it was written off. I've always worked on perfectly repaired write offs being worth half the wholesale value of a perfect car.

Horrible news, fingers crossed it was well insured and if you get it back it's still in the same condition.
Any photos of it and unique parts, chances are someone here will spot them if they hit the 2nd hand market.

Not good to hear. I hope they find your car in one piece and you get it back.
Which insurance company are you with?
I had my Mitsubishi Evolution 6.5, Tommi Makinen edition stolen at the start of the year.
Joy ridden by a couple of kids & then smashed into someone's front yard. (Broke into my house for the keys & then drove it through my garage door as I disabled the door hoping it would stop them from stealing the car)
Car was written off, but I bought it back & sold it to work as a project car. It's currently getting ready to be re-registered.
A lot of people suggested when I buy it back I should do it up myself. But by that stage I'd had a lot of rough moments with the car & saw it as a sign to move into another EVO.
I'd be thankful they stole the car not from your house. I have since moved house & haven't slept a night on my own since the car was taken. It is not something easy to get over.

Once came back from holiday to find the house ransacked, all our food eaten, and more booty in the front room ready to be collected. I slept with a weight lifting bar under the bed for a while hoping they'd come back so I could mete out some justice.
Sadly, they never came back - although this was maybe a good thing because I stood a decent chance of doing time for what I would have done to them.
We did end up living happily in that house for several more years though, and it was only a few weeks before we started sleeping normally again. Hopefully you'll get over it soon.

Had a car broken into when I lived in Fiji.
Smashed window, took vintage Aviators and a few tennis racquets, my old man chased the bastards up the road with a baseball bat letting out a fearsome warcry.

I do accept your write off valuation but it was really pretty Dave. It was way above what it was worth and I should have taken the money an ran. I actually really like the new Hyundai's and my wives Dad has one since new in 98 and has never missed a beat except for the exhaust rusting away.

Got a call tonight - car was found in Thomastown.
It is getting towed so I guess I'll find out what condition it is in tomorrow. The copper told me the locks, stereo and vents (weird right?) we're all tampered with. We'll see if the engine has been screwed.
Absolute bastards. Gotta hate idiots who don't work a day in their lives and screw over those who do. Hopefully the cops catch them.
